Of the stuff not mentioned yet, I'd include stuff by Pixies before I put down a Bryan Adams song, but to each his own.

[/ QUOTE ]

By 80's do you mean a certain style of music or just anything released in the 80's? If it's the latter I don't really like ripping other people's music taste, but this list blows.

wait...what's that phrase? ...damn, you know!!! goddammit, it's on the tip of my tongue...crap...

You did say the songs had to have airplay, and I couldn't tell you what a Husker Du song sounds like if my life depended on it. [censored] the haters.

I know...I like Husker Du and The Replacements as much as anybody, but the hipsters have to have their say so they can roll their eyes and sigh.

Instead of doing the top 100 '80s songs of all time, it might be easier to narrow it down and just discuss the best '80s songs from the '80s.

I don't even know 100 artists from any time period, let alone the 80s.

I shall expand my musical taste and create the Dr Dom playlist on my iPod.

I'm sure you're underestimating how many artists you know.

I'm guessing I would recognize the name of several thousand artists from the 60's, 70's, and 80's, and there are people that are much more knowledgeable about music of that era than I am that know a lot more artists and songs.

For some reason, this has led me to omit certain huge acts like Bruce Springsteen, U2, The Cars, Michael Jackson and Huey Lewis...oh well!

[/ QUOTE ]

It's really ridiculous to have a list of the top 80s songs and not have a song from Thriller. Every song on that album could've (should've) made it. It's just not right.
