Horrible decision by ASU just now. Down 28-21, 4th and 23 at own 25 or so, 1:30 left and 2 timeouts...and they punt?! One of worst tactical decisions I've ever seen. These teams really need to hire a "time management coordinator".

[/ QUOTE ]

then they used one of the timeouts before USC ran a play, ensuring they have no chance to get the ball back, lololz

They had to use a timeout, due to the new rules that start the clock on change of possession.

Even under the old rules, this is an atrocious play (outside shot of getting the ball back at own 25 with ~20-30 seconds left). With the new rules, it's disgusting.

haha wow, that is so ridiculously bad, Pete Carroll probably ran the ball a couple times cause he figured the other coaches couldnt be that dumb

even without the rule you would have to convert a miraculous 4th and 25 type play to even have a chance (70ish yards to go with 20-30 secs left)

I looked for this thread just to say how bad the punt by ASU was. I'm glad it's already been discussed.

Also, Florida-Auburn: Florida should've lost, but there is a reason the tuck rule exists.

no that would be retarded because if OSU goes undefeated, they will beat Michigan on the last week so I doubt Michigan will go to the championship game

Absolute BS call by the refs.

Forward and Backward Pass

ARTICLE 2.

a. A forward pass is determined by the point where the ball first strikes the ground, a player, an official or anything beyond the spot of the pass. All other passes are backward passes. When in question, it is a forward pass rather than a backward pass when thrown in or behind the neutral zone.

b. When a Team A player is holding the ball to pass it forward toward the neutral zone, any intentional forward movement of his arm starts the forward pass. If a Team B player contacts the passer or ball after forward movement begins and the ball leaves the passer’s hand, a forward pass is ruled regardless of where the ball strikes the ground or a player (A.R. 2-19-2-I).

c. When in question, the ball is passed and not fumbled during an attempted forward pass.
