but NROG is a highly active lobbying group with a large team of people on Capitol Hill. [/ QUOTE ] Please tell us about your large team. Who they are and what they are doing would be a great start. Also, what do you think you gain by all your speculation? Why is it so important to guess, rather than wait for confirmation? Let's say for sake of argument that your right and tommorow the news comes out that its not on the DOD bill. What did you gain by telling us this today? Do you play poker? Tuco. |

[ QUOTE ]
MR.K, Your information is coming from a newspaper (CingressDaily)...ours is coming from inside sessions with the actual players in this fight. [/ QUOTE ] No. The information I quote is coming from CongressDaily. The information I collect and speak about comes from sources as close to, if not closer to, the DoD negotiations as whoever it is you're getting your stuff from. But you have a good point in that the more information is good, and indeed the prospects for the Internet gambling bill as an amendment to DoD Authorization are fading fast. Moreover, I agree wholeheartedly that the fight is far from over. Most importantly, I think you got it right in your last line -- staying motivated is a problem for this particular community. Most poker players didn't engage until this month, despite the obvious and easy ways they could've engaged earlier, and the stakes for their hobby/profession. In order to keep the level of activity up, we need to be careful not to put out statements that might give people an excuse to do nothing while assuming that the battle is over. |

Nicely put and I think I've made it quite clear in alomst every post...we cannot let our guard down. It's horrible how unmotivated most of America is on issues like this. We need to keep fighting until it's legal. We should never stop.
Again...thanks for your updates as well. I'd be happy to share some insider meetings with you to see if they match what you're hearing but again, NROG is pretty confident in this release. |

What's with all the hate for NROG? For goodness' sake, you people seem to expect perfect communication from them when that's not possible given the fast moving environment that is Washington.
I, for one, value having them post here. I also value Mr. K's posts and Berge's posts. If you don't like someone, put them on ignore. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] nrog, what is it that makes you think it's unlikely Frist will continue to pursue this even with other bills in the lame duck session? [/ QUOTE ] Think he said it is unlikely until the lame duck session. [/ QUOTE ] My wording was a little off - nrog said: [ QUOTE ] Sen Frist has no intention of acting on this legislation before elections. A source very close to Frist also told NROG today that the Senator may attempt to try something during the lame duck session but "..it doesn't look like this bill is going anywhere this year." [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] This is disingenuous. Your wording wasn't a little off - you totally distorted what was said. |

I was looking over the the NROG website and noticed that they list the PPA as a supporter.
What's the relationship between the two? I know that the PPA is primarily made up of players funneled in from the major sites. Are they peer organizations or does NROG handle the lobbying for PPA or some other arrangement I don't understand? If I'm a member of PPA, should I also consider membership in NROG? |

I'm sure you are aware of "inside politics" and as a lobbying group depending on several great people inside Washington I will not reveal that sort of information. We're not trying to get anything out of this but the satisfaction of keeping you guys informed. If you'd like to read it in the paper days later (if they even report on it), we have no problem leaving your forum. We're not here for enemies. We are poker players and have a lot at stake in other ways as well. We were totally frustrated with the "not knowing". Other lobbying groups are so tight lipped and wont tell you anything until days later leaving every one of us to speculate. What we released today is not speculation. Its confirmed information direct from people who hvae been in teh meetinsg and seen the bill. We figured you guys would like to know whats going on. Maybe we were wrong....most forums we're in are happy we're providing real-time updates.
Keep up your fight though...that's the message I can't make any more clear! This news should not stop you from caring. You need to get active and every level. |

We are in constant contact with PPA, the IGC and their lobbying groups inside DC. This is not a fight that one party is trying to take control of. We are all fighting on different levels but need to stay in touch so we keep our message on target. Michael and the gang at PPA are great allies in this battle. Naturally I would recommend your support in ANY legitimate organization fighting for this cause, but then again I'm biased. Join us or not...as long as you are active and care about this fight we applaud your efforts. .Join us for free if you don't want to donate..at least you can get updates and take part in our efforts.

I'm assuming you felt I was being contentious, which was not my intention at all. I truly wanted to know how good his information was that it was unlikely to pass even in the lame duck session. The distortion was completely unintentional. |

There's no such thing as "we" when it comes to describing the readers/posters. I would say that there are plenty of people that are interested in your updates and you should continue making them. There will always be people who argue/criticize/speculate/flame/kiss-ass/whatever - its just part of the discussion. |

Jay,
This is now sounding pretty self-agrandizing and lacks credibility. Like your "dozens of people physically working the Hill claim from the other day. HOWEVER .... what was that about "so we dont show the nation that we have a 2" penis ..." That was a little more disclosure than we really needed.... Since you brought it up tho, is that an average or cuumulative statistic for your organization ? Do you allow women to join and are they included in any averaging done ? |
