Probably the sharpest pain was a broken collarbone.
I burned my leg badly on the exhaust pipe of a dirt bike when I slid out. I knew it was bad because it didn't hurt at all, at first. After a while it started to hurt and continued to hurt for at least a month. It was managable though because if I kept it elevated and cool it didn't hurt much, but if I stood up it would just hurt more and more and more and keep going until throbbing. |

I have had a lot of sports related injuries in my life (concussions, broken fingers, stitches etc..), but the worst by far was tearing my ACL. The sound of the pop was sickening, and the pain was unimaginable for the first 10 minutes. It made every other injury I ever had seem like butterfly kisses in retrospect.

Worst pain for me is the 3 times I've had kidney stones. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah I bet. I don't know how it compares to turning a nut but that does it for me. Something that I don't wish on any dude. If I had a gun under my bed the next day I woke up in extreme pain I would have shot myself. |

Let's see...
Least to worst: Breaking my arm Breaking my knee/tearing the ACL Normal falling off the bike and tearing your skin on pavement as like a 9 year old. Having the doctor throw his leg over your arm and pull off a WWF move to crack it back into place. Numbing "spray" is BS. Breaking my arm and knee didn't really hurt. The worst part is taking x-rays. My body just goes into shock when I break a bone and I don't move a thing. I usually just want to go to sleep... In when I broke my arm I just walked back to my house holding it and sat on the couch while I waited for my mom to finish something for my brother's birthday. I then said I "think" I hurt myself and that I don't want to go to the hospital. When I broke my knee I had my mom pick me up, hopped in the truck, and went to lay down. I told her "Just let me go to sleep, it'll be fine when I wake up." The doctor resetting the bone was the worst by far. I guess it was because I couldn't get sleepy |

Ulcer in my stomach [which I didn't know about] somehow created pain in my back, most likely by acid going all the way through my stomach and hitting nerves or my pancreas, anyones guess. It may not have been the sharpest pain ever [I only ended up in the ER twice], but since it lasted for months on end it was basically driving me to contemplate suicide.
Slouched over in the middle of the night after not sleeping the past two nights, not being able to sit or lie down without it being worse and then puking some for good measure, not the picnic you think it would be. I would MUCH rather experience the sharpest pain imaginable to man for a few minutes then go through that again. Pain is pain and you will get through it, but prolonged pain with no end in sight messes with your mind something awful. |

most painful was salmonella poisoning, second most painful was tearing my spleen after a collision playing baseball.

Food poisoning. I seriously wanted to crawl off the toilet back to my room, grab my pistol, and shoot myself in the mouth. Made me think twice about keeping it loaded in the future.
I still do though. |

Breaking my jaw was pretty bad - although the pain wasn't as bad as having my jaw wired shut for 6 weeks, missing Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.

The sound of the pop was sickening, and the pain was unimaginable for the first 10 minutes. It made every other injury I ever had seem like butterfly kisses in retrospect. [/ QUOTE ] I'll second for the torn ACL. I pivoted wrong in a basketball game, and heard a loud pop come right from the knee (my roommate who has torn both his ACL's later told me he could also hear the pop and knew right then and there I was toast). The first 3.7 seconds were the most painful of my life. Interesting enough the pain subsided quickly as long as I kept it still. I do remember my knee feeling like it was burning hot since all the blood was rushing to insta-swell. It felt ok going into the hospital, and then the nurse made me straighten my leg all the way for an X-ray. I slowly straightened it out as far as I could, until it popped again. It hurt so bad I fell off the table in the X-ray room. I have dreams going through that all again every once in awhile. Not fun. |
