Default Re: Potential NL forum split: Speak up

I don't like the idea of the split. I think that a better solution would just be to make 200NL strictly SSNL if it bothers Mid-Stakes that much.

SSNL is a great place for players to really get a footing on their game. Players come here when they start at the smallest $2NL games and spend a lot of time here as they move up to the $200NL games and beyond. They learn, build relationships, and really develop a camaraderie and motivation to contribute because of the time spent here. I mean have you seen the Master Sticky for SSNL, it's incredible!! All the great posts in that sticky are a direct result of that motivation to contribute that comes from spending so much time here.

What we share is that we are all working on putting together a solid game here in SSNL. In terms of breaking down a hand, we are all still figuring out how to apply the same basic concepts. Sure, the "common" opponent in NL25 might be a bit different from NL200, but i don't think that is not enough reason to break up a forum with so many other positives.

heres my reasoning

2nd hand at table. No reads. What do you put villian on here and do you call this bet?

Full Tilt Poker
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $1/$2
6 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
UTG: $381.30
UTG+1: $171.90
CO: $196
Hero: $188
SB: $195.95
BB: $150.15

Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is Button with Q Q
UTG raises to $7, 2 folds, Hero raises to $21, 2 folds, UTG calls.

Flop: 3 5 6 ($45, 2 players)
UTG is all-in $360.3, hero????

at 25 or 50 NL this is an instacall since most of these players will show you just about any 2 cards. where up at the 200's its def a little more indepth and while a call may be in order here a fold isnt that bad of a play

[/ QUOTE ]

I would think at 'better' tables, people aren't open pushing $360 into $45 pots?

It's almost impossible, right now, for someone to keep up with the traffic in SSNL. It would be a full time job. I post a fair amount here but all I do is skim for interesting titles and long-term poster. 1/2 needs to be moved down and that will add a ton of posts. It may not be wholy perfect (hey it would be nice if the HSNL guys were to post here too, right?) but I think it now needs to be done.

The microstakes forum is really going to need heavy moderation, It's going to be like babysitting even for the SSNL regs who respond there to try and help noobs. I can't count the number of times in SSNL I've explained the 5/10 rule, or how to look at the game from a theoretical point of view to avoid result oriented play. This effect is only going to magnify for this level.

It will be somewhat difficult to get regs to help in this forum. Aside from AKQJ10, 4_2, Sheridan Cat, and the other beginers forum regs, I can;t see alot of the better posters taking on the chore of filtering through the inevitable drivel. I like having 1/2 2/4 and 5/10 all together though.

From MSNL:

People were asking for a seperate thread so here it is. 2/4, 3/6, and 5/10 are staying together. SSNL mods don't want 1/2 being pushed there, so that won't happen.

I wonder how a:

25c/50c- (Micro)
50c/1 // 1/2 (Small)
2/4 // 3/6 // 5/10 (Medium)
10/20+ (High)

split would work. I remember people whining in HSNL about 5/10 cluttering their forum before, so I doubt they would mind enforcing it. Would the microstakes forum be worthless though? I definitely think the "new" small stakes forum would have enough traffic, so thats not really an issue. IF a change was going to happen, this seems to be most practical for both sides as it is. Anyway, here it is for discussion. I don't have strong feelings either way, and I think Jim feels the same way about it as I do.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is what is being proposed. MSNL folks are jumping on in favor of it. It is being discussed in the mod forum. As it effects SSNL greatly as well, we need to weigh in.

Personally, ***IF*** there is a splitting of NL strat into 4 forums, I am in favor of it being split along the lines above. Thoughts from SSNL?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think this is perfect. Today there is so much traffic in SSNL that lots of interesting posts dies, because they soon disapear.

Limit Hold'em has 6 Forums. Pot-Limit & No-Limit has 3, and more traffic. Therefore it makes sense to add more NL forums IMO.

And maybe when traffic will get lower my posts will get more than two replies!

Gogogogo!
