[ QUOTE ]
Does the ball have to be caught cleanly, or can you bobble it? If it, say, hits the arm, then bounces off the shoulder, then is caught, is it a catch?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm sure MLB rules apply, so long as that puppy doesn;t hit the ground, it's a catch.

Now, the angle here would be, if possible, to volleyball-set the ball upcourt before actually catching. Not sure how feasable that would be to do, but if someone could do it, say 80% of the time, he could smoke Federer. I don't know how doable it is though, and would think that it would only be allowed as a bobble, not a self-set.

this has been addressed, you can bobble, but not intentionally to move the ball closer to the net.

Why is everybody so convinced that you're going to be throwing the tennis ball as fast as you can over the net?

okay, a trip report.

we both played gloveless for 10 mins to try to figure out strategy/warm up. then we played a set. i was planning on revealing my findings, but i'm intrigued now, and i hope this bet goes down. all i'll say is it's much, much closer than i thought it would be.

Can the non-racket guy walk with the ball or does he have to throw it right away/stay in place?

once i catch the ball i cannot move, i can pivot off one foot, but cannot move forward to throw from a closer position. regular hard or clay court and regular balls.

Kao then we will play for 5k. You set the date and I will pay for your flight, if you win, you refund me. Am I using the glove or not?

I'd bet my roll against Federer losing to someone using this strategy.
