exactly.. some call it a missed bet but what is the villain going to call with? he's only going to raise with a better hand than one pair. if there is a river c/r you have to pay it off and im sure by doing that move he has saved himself from being trapped plenty of times.

im not saying i would make that move, but then again, im not a big selling author.

we're not "defending" or bashing him, just offering observation and thoughts into why he would make such a play. after all, isnt that how you become a better player? by understanding the thought processes of others.. if everybody played the same way you wouldnt need to post on here and discuss things b/c you could follow a manual.

because A's up is too big to lay down in this spot and he probably didnt want to fall in love with the hand in a blind vs. blind. also why would the Hero in this spot bet the river in such a small pot w/ just a naked 9? that bet is a little questionable if you ask me. i have some serious doubts as to why he didnt bet for value, but like one of the previous posters, say DS makes a c/r and hero makes it 3-bets.. what do you do now? AJ759, A-J, A-9, A-A J-J 7-7 5-5 9-9 10-8 all have him destroyed.. and who's to say you wouldnt play a big hand like this slow and hope DS (a known tight player) makes a hand he cant get away from and trap him on the river. i'm not saying hes playing scared, but theres no reason to go crazy on the river with absolutely no read and no money in the pot.

Why put him on such a narrow range HU in an unraised pot when there is a much larger range of hands that will pay off a raise?
