He was just trying to make a general point, and used numbers that would be easier to calculate.

"Well, what if a guy was on third with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning of Game Seven of the World Series with a tie score, and everyone on the team is going to be a free agent at the end of the year?" [/ QUOTE ] You mean like Renteria in the 1997 WS? |

[/ QUOTE ] To get to that point, guys with good OBP needed to be on-base, blah blah blah more sabermetrics stuff about scoring runs that you never listen to, blah blah blah insert part about small sample size, blah blah blah you can find patterns in random samples all the time, blah blah blah. Now it's your turn to say "BUT IT HAPPENED RECENTLY, I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO RIGHT" and ignore all the hard work I did that proves that I'm correct. So, go ahead. You win |

Gonzo got the hit to win it, but (assuming counsell scores from 2nd on any Gonzo single), Gonzo's extra SLG and OBP was superflous in that spot. |

I think a lot of Adam Dunn's low average comes from batting sixth a lot of the time. Sometimes he hits second and every is "suprised" he gets some hits with Griffey coming up after him.
