i think grandnu's financial decisions are pretty good as long as his wife doesn't seem to have a problem and it looks like she does not. the alternatives would be that either grandnu pays all the bills or the wife ends up getting even less of her paycheck for herself. sure it seems controlling, but there is little wrong in having a solid plan when it comes to money.

by you saying you pay all the bills, it makes it sound like you think you pay for everything, even though she is obviously paying a portion. you "take" her money, rather than seeing it just as her paying her part.

you didn't "allow" her to make her own decision when she understood the options.
