Bottom line is this. Buy what you want. Buying a Viper doesn't make you a tool. Performity is an asshat, and his post is completely opinion related.

One thing I'm dying to know is this. What's with all you [censored] in OOT being so damn worried about what others think? Some of you people make me sick with your insecurities and approval seeking nuances.

IF YOU LIKE THE CAR, BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[/ QUOTE ]

1) [censored] off. I'm an asshat because I drop an opinion you disagree with about a car?

2) of course my post was "opinion related". whatever the [censored] that's supposed to mean. I'm espousing my opinion on a message board. Utah is asking the opinion of OOT, I expressed one.

3) you're absolutely right about one thing. if you like the car, buy it. I wouldn't dream of telling anyone otherwise. But in answer to his question, would buying it make him look like a "tool"? To most people, yes. I'd say a high percentage of the people you'd poll on the street over the age of 25 would agree. Does that mean he shouldn't buy it? Of course not. Utah is man enough to know he can do whatever the [censored] he wants. He didn't come here seeking our approval - he was asking for input, just like he asked the input of Mrs. Utah originally.

Performity, how, and why does buying a car you like make you a tool? Then what car should you buy? Something you dislike?

Do you honestly beleive your statement, it's absolutely ludicrous in so many ways. You remind me of those guys who make fun of people for drinking Starbucks, girly drinks, and tanning, because it's not "cool"...

How is buying a Porsche 996 any different than a Viper?

Utah,

Letting other men [censored] your wife while living in denial makes you a tool. As for the car, no it does not make you a bigger tool.

The 2006 Viper smokes a 2007 porsche 911 in acceleration and it's not close. If you match them dollar for dollar the Porsche can't compare to the Viper. Even if you took the most expensive porsche 911 and compared it to the Dodge Viper SRT10 Venom 1000 Twin Turbo it still takes it almost TWICE as long to get to 60 mph. If you go even further and take the fastest porsche the 962 Le Mans which no woman would let her husband drive on the streets (because it is somewhat like a formula 1 car) it still takes a full second longer to reach 60 mph. No porsche, of any kind and any price, can match the dodge viper in acceleration.

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh no, a full second slower? but I want 60mph NOW!

agree.

"most" people will not think you are a tool for owning a Viper.

And even if they did, who cares?

It is a cool car, and unlike the typical BMW, porsche, etc, not everyone and his dog has one.

I think that the later posts are getting to the bottom of this. The car is absurdly pricey, the gas is absurdly pricey(even worse right now with 3.50/gallon), the upkeep is ubsurdly pricey, the insurance is upsurdly pricey. Why would anyone throw all this money into a car if they aren't racing it??? oh ya, cuz they are tools. I love it when I see a dude pulling into Target in a viper. It just looks freaking retarded...

[/ QUOTE ]

Why does it look retarded? Should he not be at Target because he has a Viper? Would a BMW at Target look retarded to you? What about an Audi? Acura? NSX is retarded but RSX would be ok to you right? Where is the line that you draw in terms of cars that would be ok and cars that would look retarded at Target?

Utah - chicks don't understand cars. But the fact that you are asking their opinion leads me to conclude that you would be better off in BMW.
