It's a 3 BB pot. I wouldn't expect anyone to tip there. The dealer is supposed to do his job and the players are expected to tip but most do not tip on small pots because it's just silly. Would he expect a tip on a chopped PF pot as well. This is pretty much close to that. Personally I don't like tipping much, but if I were to tip I'd be on larger pots. Yes the dealer has no control over the size of the pots or who wins but I can't possibly tip when I'm already getting raked or blinded by the house when I'm losing.

Yeah, not sure about most dealers but I like it hella lots when people throw me redbirds, or anything more than a buck actually.

I deal much faster when I am getting tipped generously and muuuuuuchhhhhh slower when everyone at the table is stiffing me. Like in 75-150, I just pretend like it's my first day.

FWIW, most people, myself included, would do they exact same thing.

Some of the attitudes in this thread and reports about high-stakes tipping habits have really surprised me.

ive only played in the 75/150 stud game at foxwoods a handful of times so i dont know too much about it, but i can definitely see why you might go out of your way to not deal as well in that game as others. the players in the 75/150 game complain about the quality of dealers all damn day along with everything else foxwoods does wrong. i think foxwoods players, and probably poker players in general just love to have something to complain about. the complaining gets worse when the stakes get higher. the quality of dealers at foxwoods truly is pretty subpar though and i think it infuriates some of the players that they are paying some of these horrible dealer's salaries. theyd much rather have dealers keep their own tips so they can tip the good dealers well and not tip the horrible dealers at all. of course, knowing the attitudes of the players at foxwoods, many probably wouldnt tip very well for the good dealers either. for a good dealer, i have no problem tipping him more than my share to get him a good $35/hr rate. for the total idiot dealers i have no problem not tipping them.

You don't have to do work in the service industry to know the difference between professional and unprofessional. There are some excellent employees in the service industry, but not many. The system of tokes is in place because most human beings, especially those who end up doing hack service industry jobs where they don't get paid well, need some immediate monetary gratification to do their jobs well.

I'm sure this attitude is fairly common, but I'm also sure that it's a contributing factor to most poker dealers not having better jobs.

i also think some poker dealers like exercising the little power they have over the course of the game. it gives them a chance to be part of the action in their minds rather than acting as a robot.
