[ QUOTE ]
I know they were exaggerating of course. My only point is that you guys take the hate wayyyyy too far, and that may be because of people taking the love too far [/ QUOTE ] That is pretty much the only reason [ QUOTE ] but nonetheless you guys have given your opinion and the sarcastic Nash comments in every single nba thread get old. The truth, as with anything, lies somewhere in between. [/ QUOTE ] I mentioned this in another thread where kidcolin accused me of doing this, I have brought needlessly brought up Nash in one NBA thread in the past 20 weeks. Look at this thread I only responded to the Nash comments after you and Assani brought it up. I intuitively thought that some of the numbers people were giving the Mavs were too high, but after looking at Pinnacle who has the lines at -425 and +465, I guess I was wrong or I should be betting lots of money on GS. |

It seems that in a 7 game series where a team is down 3-1, they need someone to put the team on their back and will them back into it. Who is that player on Dallas? Howard??? Dirk??? Stack??? None of these guys seems willing or able to carry their team through this. I think we are looking at the Warriors in 5, maybe 6. Too much energy, too much athleticism, and they now have proven that they can win in a slower-paced game. It is the Warriors series to lose. They'll have to beat themselves, because nobody on Dallas will single-handedly take control of this series.

Even with ridiculously favorable assumptions like: Mavs are 80% favorite for game 5. Mavs are 60% favorite for game 6. Mavs are 90% favorite for game 7. [/ QUOTE ] this is the biggest joke ive ever seen... |

when Phoenix was down against the Lakers last year, I still had the feeling that they were right in it.. I don't get the same feeling with Dallas against GS, I think it's over..
The east may only have one non-sweep.. and that one might be 4-1.. that is mind-boggling |

Casual idiot basketball fan chiming in here...
After watching game 4 I don't understand how anyone could think GS is just getting lucky against Dallas. Baron Davis is far and away the best player on the floor (sorry Dirk) and GS plays superior defense. Sure they huck beaucoup 3's but most of the shots they took were decent looks at the basket. Also have to agree that Dallas is weak in the head. They crumbled so badly at the end of the game and, prior to that, were never able to put the warriors away. I think Dallas is screwed. Also the one thing I love about the NBA is the game moves so fast the announcers never have a chance to sound like idiots. |

Wow, I'm not a huge Mavs or Warriors fan, but this series has completely shocked the piss out of me. I don't see how anyone could think the Mavs are 50/50 to take this thing if they have watched the games in this series. How often is a team down 3-1 and 50/50 to win the series? I CAN'T see GS beating the Mavs in a game 7, but then again I didn't see them going up 3-1 in this series either. The Mavs are really going to need to figure something out if they don't want to be watching the rest of the playoffs from home.
New NBA commercial: "Will you be watching when an 8 seed crushes the best team in the regular season?" |

[ QUOTE ] wouldn't this immediately become a huge candidate for THE SINGLE biggest upset in the history of major professional American team sports (at least on paper)? [/ QUOTE ] Yes. 67 win teams don't lose in the 1st round in the NBA ever. MVP's of the regular season don't disappear in the 1st round like this ever. Dallas is healthy, well-coached, has the MVP, a strong cast, deep bench. If Dallas loses this series, it'll be the most embarrassing first round loss ever. [/ QUOTE ] I am trying very hard to think of something in another sport (obviously this is the most embarrassing in NBA history if Mavs get upset)... but I can't. I'm gonna disagree with Learned and put it at significantly <25% chance... but that's not impossible. I have absolutely no desire to see this Warriors team advance. It's a great story and good for the Bay Area, but I want to see better teams in play. From Hollinger: [ QUOTE ] Nelson made the most underrated coaching move of the playoffs last night. Or non-move, I guess you'd call it. With 8:07 to go in the first quarter, Baron Davis picked up his second foul when he charged into Dallas' Devin Harris. The book says to take Davis out for the rest of the quarter; Nelson just shrugged his shoulders and left him to continue wreaking havoc on the court. Davis ended up playing 44 minutes, leading the Warriors to a 103-99 win and a shocking 3-1 series lead over the Mavs. But he could do that only because Nelly allowed him to. You have to understand what a knee-jerk move this is for almost every coach in the league. Virtually every time a player gets two fouls in the opening quarter, the coach will sit him out the rest of the first quarter, and for good measure a little bit of the second. For good measure, the coach will take him out again toward the end of the first half, because God forbid he use three of his six fouls before halftime. [/ QUOTE ] I agree. [ QUOTE ] "They're still in control of this series because they've been here, and they've bounced back," Davis said. [/ QUOTE ] Great Baron quote. -Al |

guys, forget the regular season. just look at the series in a vacuum. which team would you bet on for a ONE game series? without being too much of a homer, id pick the warriors. I'd rate the mavs as having not even a 10% shot to win this series. (.45 x .45 x .45) btw, i dont get ppl saying the gsw will use a 6 man rotation.. they've been using an 8 man rotation, harrington logged 13 mins and montay 22. [/ QUOTE ] 10% is way too low. Dallas not only has way more experience but they are also a much better team. They'll figure it out and someone will probably step up. I don't think GS can finish the mavs off at home where they lost 5 games all season. Plus facing elimination which becomes an advantage for the Mavs. You can't say GS has an equal chance to win each game either. 45 is way too low for the first game. Game 6 will be the toughest and 45 may be accurate here. In a game 7, I don't think the Warriors have a chance. I agree with whoever it was that said 95%. Its a completely different game when the stakes get that high and I don't think the Warrios can handle it |
