LOL. I can picture all the HR brushes salivating over the tips they think they'll get for running $5,000 to the 10/25nl players. I've had a dealer at derby lane tell me she thinks she can average $5 a hand at the 100NL tables. [/ QUOTE ] AS WELL THEY SHOULD. the people playing these insanely high limits winning insanely big pots should tip out like $25 or so some hands. its not fair that people like me, when i was homeless and broke down in FL, struggling to beat the $1-2 fixed limit games for $25 a day, was expected to [censored] tip away about another 50c-1 a hand, when it was all the [censored] money i was winning at the end of the day. the people who play them REALLY HIGH stakes, most of them dont really care about the money and whether they win or lose, like i did, since i was on the streets and outta work and really needed the money. u know how i got my $378 i came to FL with up to $1100 within 2 months in them [censored] limits? BY NOT TIPPING HARDLY MUCH AT ALL, and by never spending a dime for a motel room. (and of course being an exceptionally good player helps too, for one would have to be to beat them limits.) sure wish theyd have $1-5 limits instead of $1-2 when i was down in FL. u guys who wont tip big at them high limits are the TIGHT AND STINGY ONES, not me.. i didnt tip cause i was too bad a game with too low of limits and i couldnt afford it. whats u guys EXCUSE?? |

whether the game is 1/2 or 100/200, the dealer is still dealing the same cards with the same rules. no disrespect to any dealers out here, but there should not be any need to tip differently at different limits.
as for the previous poster...what kind of drugs are you on? and congrats for making $722 in 2 months by grinding the 1-2 in FL. smart life decision there. |

The dealers here in Florida have been on a gravy train for years, and they don't realize it. I would always see people at the $2 games tip the dealers $2 or $3 or more when they won a pot. I saw a guy a couple of weeks ago win a big pot, one of those classic ones where four idiots capped every round and the winning hand was two small pairs -- the guy gave the dealer $8.
They think that since now the big bet is $5 as opposed to $2 that they'll get 2.5 times the amount of tips they used to get. |

The guy was one of those real degenerate gamblers who is registered in a donk-n-go and can't wait 10 minutes for it to start so he goes to a 1-2 table and donks around. He won probably $40-$50 total and as he was getting up he goes "here you go man" and slides a stack in for the dealer. I was lmfao. Naturally we ribbed the dealer "did he give you his phone number too?" |

Whats really funny is they sit at the 1-2 limit and complain how BINGO POKER is not beatable.........then they run off to play a sit-n-go or other tourney with a 29% rake and 15 minute blind structures............LMFAO!!

yeah, classic
"These 1-2 games are just bingo! I'm gonna go play in a one table turbo, where you can really play poker!" I often wonder how those people are competent enough to tie their shoes before they come to the room. |

10/20 NL with $100 capped buy-in should be...ummm...interesting.
WTF are they thinking? This is getting beyond weird. I'm beginning to think hardly anybody in Florida has ever seen poker outside the state because obviously this is unrealistic. The dealers who think they will not be getting $5/hd obviously haven't been around very much either. But perhaps they're more correct than I think on this one if the players are as idiotic as evidently some of the personnel is. I feel like I'm about to enter Poker-Retard land...and I'm loving it!!! |

[/ QUOTE ] ummm...what they're saying is that the most you can buy in for is $100. Once you're seated at the table and have been dealt one hand, you can buy as many more chips as you want. Interesting interpretation of the law. I'm pretty sure each NL game will have a reasonable rebuy max. By the way, do you find that insulting the players is +EV? "Gotta get to K-Mart." |

i agree about the outrageous tips that dealers typically get.
i don't tip bad dealers (slow, rude, incompetent), ever. i'll remember their face and never tip 'em. and there's a lot of e'm down here. another thing i do is that i tip only when i win a second pot within a 30min slot (dealer's shift). i tip in 2 pot increments. so for instance, dealer sits down, i win a pot. then i win another pot before the dealer's shift ends, then i tip that dealer $2. then i repeat the cycle. if i don't win 2 pots with the same dealer, say i only win one pot, then i don't tip. i have to win 2 pots (imo, $2/pot seems to be the norm down here lol). so it averages out to $1/pot, but only sometimes, since i don't win 2 pots per 30 mins that often. i find that winning a $70 pot and only tipping $1 screams arse-hole down here, so what i do is use people's lack of short term memory against them and try to project the image that i tip $2 every time i win a pot. i know. stupid. but it's these little games in my head that keep me entertained while playing these ridiculously slow, low-limit games. that and guessing whether that young spinner by herself at the bar is a hooker or a citizen. |
