[ QUOTE ] It's not fair on curtains because if he knew about it but chose not to say anything, that is very different from actually doing it himself. If he didn't know anything, there will still be a debate claiming he did, and he's in a no-win situation either way. Lori [/ QUOTE ] Different, but not much less unethical. It is so sad that people nowadays would even think this is debatable. In the past dishonesty was unacceptable - period. [/ QUOTE ] Please don't take this as a critisism of URMeowed's actions because it's not, but anyone who knew about anything does not have to get themselves involved if they don't want to. It is none of our business what curtains knew and what conclusions he reached unless he wants to share that with us. Lori |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Is it fair to ask curtains (and others) how long/how much they knew about Zee and others multi-accounting? [/ QUOTE ] No. [/ QUOTE ] Why not? [/ QUOTE ] It's a bit too much to ask of someone to rat out a friend when it could cost them $100k and their reputation. I doubt many of you'd do it. Anyway, I think my position on this is pretty obvious, thus the lack of clarification. |

[/ QUOTE ] I agree; I don't think that means it's ethical to remain silent. Just because it's "different" doesn't make it ethical to keep it hidden. [ QUOTE ] If he didn't know anything, there will still be a debate claiming he did, and he's in a no-win situation either way. Lori [/ QUOTE ] He's one of the most respected posters around; I'll definitely take him at his word if he claims he didn't know for long -- along with N82. |

[ QUOTE ]
Money comes and goes. Reputation you lose, and it is almost impossible to regain. These two instances has shown/ will show that clearly. That's whats great about 2 of the most famous players being caught for this and outed. Other players will be scared of doing the same, not for losing money, but for the fear of losing their reputation. Hopefully everyone who has suspicion will report now, since it is now the sites has focus on this, and thereby it is now it is easiest to catch the cheaters. [/ QUOTE ] im behind the times, who was the other one? |

curtains is a really sharp player who posts semi-regularly in MTT and WPT (and other forums too I'm sure). The fact that Zee mentioned him was eye-catching to me as well. I like curtains a lot actually and certainly hope that him being mentioned in zee's post doesn't mean what I think it might mean. [/ QUOTE ] Curtains != Zeejustin Curtains is not just well respected because he's a great poster and a great player, but he's also a very honest and fair person. I'm positive he isn't playing multiple accounts in the same tourneys and would never do it. |

[/ QUOTE ] btw for what its worth, if you know someone has cheated to win a signfigant amount of money, or if you know they are still cheating, I believe that it is somewhat unethical to remain silent about it, however its all really murky and in most cases wouldn't change my opinion on someone. People have strong beliefs on snitching, and I don't feel qualified to make a blanket statement on when snitching is right and when its wrong. |

[/ QUOTE ] It's a bit too much to ask of someone to rat out a friend when it could cost them $100k and their reputation. I doubt many of you'd do it. [/ QUOTE ] I agree, it would be very difficult, and I'm not sure I could do it. I suggest those "in-the-know" should have done something like this: [ QUOTE ] Post on the MTT forum "FYI, multi-accounting is real and some of the best players are utilizing it", or something similar to that. [/ QUOTE ] At this point, it's water in the bridge with multi-accounting. I suggest it be kept in mind for the future, though. I doubt this is the last time poker and cheating will mix -- and I suspect some here are going to find themselves in similarly tight spots in the future. I'm not saying "ratting out" a friend is the best option -- I'm sure it's very difficult to do. But there are other ways to sound the alarm without implicating a friend. I question whether or not that happened here, and I think it should have (if it was known this was widespread). |

[/ QUOTE ] I really hope all your friends are perfect like you apparently are, and you can hold this mirror up to yourself and all of them. Really, it's easy to say all the stuff your spewing. But if you've ever had to balance a friendship or family-relationship with a real ethical dilemma in the REAL WORLD, I don't think you'd be talkinng out of your ass like this. |
