What was the hand? I'm looking for it but evidently I suck.

[/ QUOTE ]

Folded to Kravchenko on the button who pushed for 1.95M, someone (Kenny Tran?) called in the SB and Kevin Farry or whatever his name is called off his stack in the BB w/ KQs. Kravchenko had TT and Tran had AQ and the TT held for a near-triple up.

I just realized that Kravchenko had 2 million and not Farry, so we can't rate Farry's call w/o knowing how short he was, you dig?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think Farry had a bit north of $1.5M, but yes, I dig.

Featured Table: Raymond Rahme Calls Ray Henson's Bluff

Philip Hilm has the button in seat 6, Ray Henson raises from middle position to 340,000, Hilm calls from the button, and Raymond Rahme calls from the small blind. The flop comes {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{7-Spades}, and all three players check. The turn card is the {7-Diamonds}, Rahme checks, Henson bets 600,000, Hilm folds, and Rahme calls. There is now 1.245 million in the pot.

The river card is the {9-Hearts}, Henson bets 1 million, and Rahme thinks for about two minutes before he calls. Henson shows {6-Hearts}{3-Clubs} for six high, and Rahme shows {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} for two pair, eights and sevens. Rahme wins the pot worth 3.245 million.

After the hand, Scotty Nguyen stands up and bows to Raymond Rahme, as if he (Nguyen) is not worthy of the call that Rahme just made.

[/ QUOTE ]

C-bet ftw.

What are you talking about?

Not if Kenny is smart enough to not pay him off.

[ QUOTE ]
There's a dead button. Kenny Tran in the cutoff raises to 350,000; Jon Kalmar is in the small blind and calls. Lee Watkinson is in the big blind and folds.

[/ QUOTE ]

800,000 in preflop.

[ QUOTE ]
The flop is {10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and Kalmar checks. Tran bets 500,000 and Kalmar calls.

[/ QUOTE ]

1.3m in and 500k to call. He's getting the right price with the nut flush draw.

[ QUOTE ]
The turn is the {9-Spades}. Kalmar checks. Tran bets 1,300,000 and Kalmar calls.

[/ QUOTE ]

3.1m in and 1.3m to call. Kalmar now has a gutshot to go along with his flush draw. He's around a 3 to 1 underdog here against top set and he's getting 2.5 to 1 to call. If Tran calls anything on the river the call is correct, much less AI.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sigh.

Your Ace is not a clean out, in case that matters.

The real point is that you can't just look at odds on the flop and assume you are going to get two cards because you will very often face another bet on the turn when the board bricks out.

I will defer any other beginner questions to others.

Featured Table: Scotty Nguyen Takes a 1.825 Million Pot
Raymond Rahme has the button in seat 7, Scotty Nguyen raises from middle position to 350,000, and Philip Hilm calls from the cutoff. The flop comes {6h}{3d}{2s}, Nguyen bets 420,000, and Hilm calls. There is now 1.825 million in the pot. The turn card is the {Ad}, Nguyen bets 700,000, and Hilm folds. The crowd applauds as Scotty Nguyen takes the pot.

This hand was shortly after the dinner break, at which Farry had 1.6 million. Farry had stolen the previous blinds and antes (60k/120k/15k, 9 players) for a total stack of close to 2 million. Kravchenko almost certainly had him barely covered.
