2. To make a border create a new layer, be sure this layer is transparent and "on top" of all the other layers. This makes the border you will draw on this layer be visible on all frames in one quick easy step. Then draw your border either by hand or with this method dukesucks taught me.

Hmm. I can't figure out how to do this in GIMP. I make a new transparent layer, select all, shrink the selection by 1 pixel, invert the selection, then fill the selection. I just can't figure out how to get that layer "on top" of all other layers. The best I can do is to duplicate that layer a bunch, then merge one copy of it with each frame layer, which is tedious and annoying. :|

You are really close. Just make that layer "visible" on every "frame" of the animation. It should be easy to do. You need the little eye icon to be visible for each frame. In imageready I can do this easy by just selecting the first "frame" and turning the eye icon (it is near the border layer) off and on. All changes to the first frame of an animation are normally duplicated to all frames. Sorry I can't explain it better.

Here is an animation of the idea. See how the border shows up on each frame when I click the eye icon. When i make changes to the first frame the changes are copied to all the frames. It puts my border layer on top of all the frames.

It *should* be, but I can't figure out how to do it in GIMP.

GIMP's layers dialog looks much like yours, and I can toggle the visibility of the border layer, but there's no "animation" panel like you have. If I leave the layer seperate, it just gets tacked onto the animation (i.e. all layers are exactly one frame of animation (though each can have an individual time value)). It looks like your application has a stack of layers, which you can mix and match in building each frame of your animation.

Can you take 0:12 to 0:15 of this clip, maybe zoom in on the dunk?

It's Gerald Green of the Celtics in the summer league dunking on a 7-footer.

Sorry I can't find a way to get the spin move in the frame. If I zoom out that much it just looks like dots running around.

HP,

I'm not even sure where it is from I just saw the file in the gifdump website and resized it. Must be from a small comedy tv show.

You think I could get the picture of the guys face in my avatar turned into Dikshit? And maybe have the hand reach out and pull down the switch. That would be awesome.

Edit: Damn, I forgot how small the guy's face was. That probably wouldn't do much good.

great thread, can't believe i just only found this now...anyways, i'd really like something out of the movie BLOW, i found this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rgetcn_fKb0 and would really like from 1:06-1:17 (from when the guy behind the counter just blows a line to when johnny depp cracks a smile) not sure if this is too long but hopefully it isnt. also, i initially just wanted when the guy is saying "i can't feel my face, i mean i can touch it, but i cant feel it" when hes touching his face but have yet to find a clip of it

edit: if 1:06-1:17 is too long, which i suspect it is, i think 1:10-1:17 would be fine as well...
