Well it's just you insist on playing really loose preflop for some reason (I sure can't tell, it's not the results obviously, you seem really proud of it though) and although I've not played with you it sounds like a lot of the preflop plays you routinely make are -EV. So that would likely be a contributing factor as to why your winrate isn't as high as you would like. Your postflop analysis in posts seems sound, but like I said I've never played with you so I'm not sure how you carry it through at the tables. Good luck in trying to patch some of the leaks in your game though.

yeah you seem to love when everyone is like "yeah you're a smart LAG and tough to play against". LAG is sexy to some people but it is very often spew. hard to play against isn't the same thing as profitable.

But TAG usually makes more money unless you're really really good at playing LAG (atleast mid and smallstakes, I don't really have any experience of high stakes) |

aeo jones - try playing 23/18 or 25/20.... You get the same action and you dont end up defending q9s in the blinds

aejones--
we played together the other day (i'm the guy who kept making fun of dawiz). i really didn't think you were too loose preflop ? it didn't seem like you even played LAG. i dunno, just play how you did in that session--it's definitely a winning style. edit-- haha, suddenly i'm not sure if the guy's name was dawiz. it had da in it tho...i feel like dawiz is someone else. ohhhh ya his name was mydawn. there it is. ya dawiz and mydawn are obviously really similar names. |

But a lot of that is very difficult to break (I'm sure people who have played a lot of hands can attest to this). I kind of want to get more of a 25/20 going- that's why I'm working on 3-betting and folding hands like offsuit broadway cards and suited connectors that aren't connecting, just suited. Looking to patch that up and get more aggressive postflop. GoBlue- I remember playing with mydawn, but I don't remember who you were making fun of him (I could guess your tag actually, did you stack me one time?). Anyways, I might not have been playing too crazy- I'm working on playing to the style of my table obviously, and if I've got psycho guys are my table I tone it down- but I can't help playing like 32-24 sometimes when players are very tight and aren't defending blinds at all- I'm always thinking that the combination of the free pots out there with the image I'm getting are too good for metagame and very +EV. I realize this ends with me making difficult decisions, but I think that is sort of a "baptized by fire" sort of thing. What I mean by that last sentence is that I'm gearing up for playing higher. I used to play 5/10 (underrolled= busto, busto, busto) and I'm just getting used to real BR management. What I'm saying is that I like playing in many difficult decisions because I Think it prepares me for the next level. I never envisioned staying here long, though now I think enough can be made at 2/4 (and maybe 3/6?) for me to not worry about moving up to 5/10. So for the time being I'm content, and my number one focus is now making plays that will make me money, not get me better (though that will always be in the back of my mind by nature). I know a lot of people at 1/2 and 2/4 who play like 16/12 or even some at like 20/15 are solid TAGs or even a little nitty, and make way mmore money than me. However, a lot of the same guys would get killed if they moved up too high, because they don't adjust as well, they're used to bad players dumping them money. Basically, I think my postflop play is strong and continues to get better. I want to work on my preflop considerations for a while, and not concentrate on the "glory" of being loose and aggressive. Although I must say, I'm still having a ton of fun playing poker. Some people on here aren't quite the same it seems... but I love it, and I attribute a lot of it to my style. This was a little long, thanks for the responses thus far, and thanks for listening, I hope it helped someone. |
