Soooooooooo, I think I'm too tight... I just moved to interpoker for a bit to clear a couple of bonuses and over 3000 hands I'm smashing the 6 max NL25 and NL50 tables for 17PTBB/100 but since moving my stats have gone to a nitty VPIP of 19.5 and PFR of 13 (total AF 2.7)...

Is this way to TAG for 6 max? Even if I'm crushing these games like this (small hand selection I know but I've had my fair share of variance already within these hands so it looks like a decent sample and therefore looks beatable beatable like this) should I look at loosening up? Is it possible to keep winning solidly playing that TAG at uNL 6max?

[/ QUOTE ]

Come back down to earth. You can't be 'smashing' games with a 3k hand sample. Just letting you know, because when I started I would always blame the cards, etc etc.

Nice run so far though.

Haha - point taken - I realise its a tiny hand sample - and no I'm not crushing them yet, BUT it's been a solid run and I feel very confident in these games.

what do you guys think a decent sample to tell if you are beating a level or not? im at 6200 hands with a 9.73PTBB/100. just wondering if i have enough information to say "yes i am winning".

not ready to move up, hoping to very soon though, just need another 15-20 bucks to feel comfortable at 10NL.

I think they suggest playing at least 20k hands before evaluating how you're playing. 50k is a good sample size from what I know.

Not that I've played 50k hands. I barely get in 5k a month.

Diceman:

While your sample size is pretty small, it's pretty safe to say that you're beating $10NL with a rate like that, though it's tough to say for sure for how much over the long term.

I'd say it's probably a good idea to stick around at 10NL for a while. I just finished my first 10K NL hands, and I'm still constantly running into situations that I've never faced before. I've moved up once and am now taking shots at 50NL, and I've made a few of those 'never do anything that retarded again in my life' mistakes that have really hurt at the higher levels. That being said taking occasional shots really helps you feel more comfortable at the higher levels which is crucial for when you finally do move up.

Ugh the first day of my mission from micro-to-robusto sucked hard... I definitely need to make more than $100 if I want to be like BLD, CTS etc. But at least I know I can win even when I play like crap which is good start.

I'll post graphs later unless no one cares.

BY the way I lost $100 playing NL25 with VP/IP of 24.
then I moved up to NL50 and won $200 with VP/IP of 20.
both sample sizes were like 2k. That cannot be a coincidence.

Can someone please kill me now? Seriously, this is starting to get a little ridiculous.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?664972

No matter what I do, I can't win. I've hit one set in my last 25 pocket pairs, it didn't hold up. My huge draws inevitably miss every time, my opponents hit miracle cards at every opportunity (I've lost to two one outers just today) and I always seem to end up with good second-best hands. Then when I finally hit a decent hand, everybody folds. I know that I'm a good player, but it's hard to constantly play my A-game and not tilt when every time I check I'm down another buy-in and I'm getting it all-in with the nuts and losing. Just as I was typing this, this hand comes up:

http://www.pokerhand.org/?664990

I mean seriously, when you're losing more often than not after flopping the nuts, what else can you do? I've tried to be patient and tell myself that my luck will eventually turn around, but I'm not so sure anymore. I guess I'm just looking for advice on breaking a downswing. Move down (I'm over-rolled for NL 50 as it is)? Take a break (tried that and did pretty well playing MTTs)? Switch back to limit (did that last night and had my biggest winning session in a week)?

the truth is those beats are not even that bad. You have to basically be a frikking stone cold killer to play this game I've found and just not sweat the beats(not that I'm quite that yet).
