Sad thing is people actually care about this thread. I just popped in here to see how much stupidity is being spread around the WPT forum tonight. Man, people need a life. Most of the people here weren't at the tourney, will never meet Vanessa or even talk to her, yet they spend their time in this forum whining, crying, arguing over what was and wasn't the right thing to do. [/ QUOTE ] I know I don't get it either, but I keep reading! All the people on here that love arguing over stuff when they have no idea what they're talking about and doesn't make a difference could find a home in the politics or SMP forums. |

Well, can you honestly say what Vanessa did/does is one-tenth as bad as the stuff Sheiky, Hellmuth and Matusow have done? In my view, there is no comparison.
It particularly bothered me that Sebok [on the Circuit] stated as fact that Vanessa slow-rolled at least twice in the tournament even though he said earlier that he only heard about it [probably from Liz or Jean]. The four of them [Sebok, Huff, Smith and Van Alstyne] went on to talk about "poker justice", referring to the AJ v AK hand that busted Vanessa. Has there been a firestorm about this Morello character, also a newbie, who purposely took 15 minutes on every decision when it was down to a few tables [in order to get higher up in the money]? He even bragged about what he was doing. The rest of the table had to resort to calling the clock on him every hand as soon as it was his turn. Funny that this extreme breech of poker etiquette wasn't mentioned on the Circuit. |

[ QUOTE ] Good post Vanessa. The issue is not slow-rolling or asking to see hands. The issue is the double standard that so-called established pros place on newer players. It appears to me as if Vanessa made every attempt to correct and/or apologize for any potential impropriety at the table. Rather than say, "OK newbie -- no harm, no foul," the reactions varied pretty much based on the bitterness of the people involved. If on The Circuit James Van Alstyne did talk about Vanessa not shaking his hand, he should be popped upside his head. Who cares. I watched Layne Flack in the 2004 US Poker Championships pretty much run away from the table after being busted out. He was not happy about being busted and I don't remember that being a topic of conversation -- no harm no foul. The double-standards that the established players place on up-and-comers is nothing more than bitterness. They love the big prize pools that come with large fields but show nothing but animosity if someone breaks into their circle. And God forbid if that someone happens to be a woman. [/ QUOTE ] Hijack: I think all the hand-shaking on every single bust-out is a bit excessive anyway. I have played in 4 'major' events and I think I maybe have occasionally shook the hand of the guy next to me after I was busted (if we had been conversational for a few hours or something like that). Maybe I'll sometimes acknowledge a couple guys on the other side of the table with a wave and a 'good-luck'. But I'm not going to run around and shake every guys' hand. I'm assuming they just want to get on with the game anyway rather than wish me their fondest farewells. These weren't final-tables though where things will be a bit more emotional. But I've had guys come up and shake my hand after they've been busted just because they felt obligated to shake everyone's hand at the table. Didn't matter if I had no idea who they were because I had ust been moved to the table. All seems kind of silly to me much of the time. [/ QUOTE ] And what's up with all the hugging between guys? That's just plain weird to watch. When I busto I don't want some guy coming up and giving me a hug. |

Wow, this forum brings the retards out of the woodwork - if you are seriously suggesting that the following two statements are inconsistent then you probably should look for a job that doesnt require the ability to comprehend basic english. "I'm sorry then, what a cold deck, I got really lucky." “Liz, wow, I got really lucky then with that river, sorry.” [/ QUOTE ] When you put something in quotes, you are stating that these are the exact words, so his point is accurate. Saying that, it is still far from saying "Nice hand". |

[ QUOTE ] The reason that I (and probably many others here) thought her post was good was that the complaints against her seemed petty. I've seen these things happen so many times and even though I get angry when they do (a slowroll for example) I forget about it a few minutes later. For someone to come on here and start posting all this stuff about one person in one tournement strikes me as jealeousy and nothing else. I appreciated Vanessa's response to each one of the complaints and even though she is biased there's still a good possibility that other people saw things differently because they were not involved in the hands, as she was. [/ QUOTE ] Petty jealousy of a pro? On this site? Never heard of such a thing. You must be thinking of a different 2+2. [/ QUOTE ] I thought everyone on here was a pro? |

Hi Vanessa,
You are an attractive lady who is earning a living playing poker. Why do you give a flying f*** about what anyone has to say or think about you? The male poker crowd is more concerned about getting in your pants than "poker etiquette" and most of the poker women are fugly and jealous of you. In fact, from a marketing persepective, I recommend bitch-slapping Jean Gluck and making a name for yourself in the Poker World thus leading to fame and endorsements. Look what taking drugs and being obnoxious has done for a hack like Mike Matusow. In conclusion, you have a nice smile and wonderful breasts. |

"likability and credibility"
Note how these are often mutually exclusive. |

However, she was recalling something she said and changing details like this is indicative of dishonesty. |
