Well, going on the voting so far it's a Brazil v USA final ! What would that do for the sport over there? [/ QUOTE ] Launch an investigation, since (IIRC) Brazil and the US would most likely meet in the 2nd round |

[ QUOTE ]
One other thing about Germany. While it is true they got second in the last World Cup, look who they defeated in the knockout stages to get there. Paraguay, United States, Korea. Granted it is not their fault that almost all the other big name teams lost, but that is not likely to happen again. Especially considering this World Cup is being played on European soil and most of the African powerhouses didn't qualify. I don't expect to see any "Koreas" in the semis. Nor do I expect all 5 continents to be represented in the quarterfinals as was the case last time. [/ QUOTE ] I would like to add to your point that in the quaterfinal came against the US the were overmatched and outplayed. |

Tiffany has more chance of bringing the WSOP home for the US than the USA football team winning the world cup.

add quaresma, hugo almeida to c.ronaldo, figo and nuno gomes,
they can outscore anybody the problem is that they've lost their best defensive player for the WC(andrade) |

[ QUOTE ] yeah I think people are GREATLY underestimating the home country advantage germany has. in 2002 the host south korea got to the semifinals in 1998 the host france won the whole thing in 1994 the host US actually made it to the 2nd round (a minor miracle) All three of these were pretty huge overachievements. [/ QUOTE ] south korea had huge referee help france was a fantastic team USA didn't achieve anything noteworthy I'm not saying playing at home doesn't help but this Germany team needs a lot more than that. [/ QUOTE ] you're right france don't belong in a list alongside korea and the usa. they've proven it was no fluke by winning the euro(the toughest soccer competition)in holland 2 years after that look back at the team: henry zidane vieira thuram desailly (in his best shape) trezeguet to name a few i'm surprised nobody mention the french team |

yes, it requires usa beating italy and czech to win group, [/ QUOTE ] I know you know this, but the United States doesn't need to win the group to advance. If the US beat Italy, tied the Czech and beat Ghana, the US will advance, most likely. Even if the US beats Italy and Ghana and LOSES to the Czech, they'll probably advance. |
