Alright, I'll address issues one at a time.
1) I have told the entire story no more no less -- although I forgive people who doubt its veracity...I will be the first to admit it sounds kinda shady. Yes, my mom multitables the nanolimits...I told her to stay away from online poker entirely and was pissed she opened an account, and even more surprised when she asked me to watch her once when I was home, and I saw her 6-tabling on a 800x600 monitor. Anyway, I won't waste any more space defending the truthiness -- (and for the record, I also, given the choice between a 2+2'ers mom and Lee Jones, would side with Lee on pretty much any issue...when it's your mom, though, it's a little tougher) 2) I think the trojan / virus explanation makes the most sense. I'm going to have her run some tests / scans to see what it picks up. She's had that computer for 3 to 4 years I think, and def isn't savvy enough to reinstall Windows or run frequent virus scans, so it's possible...why a trojan/virus would trigger a Stars bot investigation, however, i guess is known only to Jeff/Lee. I'll get her to do the appropriate scans, and report back if anything is found... 3) I really hold no animosity toward Stars. I didn't lose any money (neither did my mother), and she tells me that she was looking for an excuse to quit playing poker anyway, which I had always encouraged her to do. In fact, I'm happy Stars takes bot-detection seriously...I'm still just a little weirded out that they could have acted as judge/jury/executioner vs. a woman who (to the best of either one of ours knowledge) is just a clueless peon in this whole thing. |

It dawned on me now though that even if a virus scan turns up something, it won't necessarily be conclusive evidence that that is what was responsible for the Stars bot trigger. 3 years without doing much virus/trojan sweeping I'm sure will have left all sorts of spyware / tracking cookies on her computer, which who knows if we'll be able to conclusively ID as the culprit. Oh well, I'll report back anyway.

I would really like to hear what Stars found on her PC anyways. Even if they have to word in in such a way as to not educate the real "bots"

pissed she opened an account [/ QUOTE ] You had to walk her through opening an email account, but she just whizzed through opening a Stars account? |

This is just like the scene in airplane where the bunch of gun toting arabs walk through the metal detectors, closely followed by a little old lady who sets off the alarm and is pounced on by about 10 security guys. Probably all the other players on the table were bots and the detection system got confused...

I had to make an email account for my mother, but she figured out how to buy all kinds of crap off the internet all by herself. |
