[ QUOTE ]
BODOG is not to be trusted! They are run by a known cheater and swindler and will steal your money any way they can. Stay away. Stay far away! moses [/ QUOTE ] Wow, I've had nothing but good experiences with Bodog. Last week I was playing a Heads up sng for $50 and my computer re-booted itself (who knows), by the time I finally logged back on I had lost 90% of my chips because it put me into auto fold. When eventually I lost, I called them up, explained what happened and they refunded my money (one time only of course) That being said, they are also located in CANADA, which means you can understand them (and they are polite), and they answer the phone after ONE ring, every time!! I love Bodog and their customer service. |

[ QUOTE ]
The obvious thing to do here is: 1. Make a new account and "mistype" the account number again. 2. Deposit as much as you possibly can as a new player (I'm sure there's a limit on this first transaction). 3. Proceed to lose all this money ASAP. 4. Avoid their calls.. oh wait, the phone number, name, address, email, etc were all bogus. No problem here. 5. Repeat I give it a week before bodog changes their deposit policy. [/ QUOTE ] Or even better... 1. Make a real deposit in a real account with all your real information. 2. Make a max deposit in a fraudulent account. 3. Go to the same table with both account, and let the dumpage ensue. 4. Repeat if desired. It's a good way to get your money back from Bodog, and to get them to change their policy. Everyone wins. |

Guitarizt,
Your thoughts are a mirror image of how I feel about this entire incident. I respect everyone's opinion but am amazed at how many people feel an honest mistake should be penalized in the way Bodog handled this incident. I still wonder if anyone else had the misfortune of winning and seeing your positive balance pulled right from under their feet, if they wouldnt feel the way I do. I can fess up one hundred times a week and say, "Yeah I messed up, it was my fault" and that still wouldnt justify Bodog keeping my winnings. I think they should change the name of their website to Bopigs.com as their greed is beyond belief. |

Sorry Granny but your assumption that bodog would not have been paid is incorrect. I would have paid them in a second as I have yet to not pay a debt instantly.

All you guys who are saying that it is ok for Bodog to confiscate his money because he got the number wrong and he could have been trying to defraud them are frickin morons. I can't believe how many frickin morons on this site will try to excuse any horrible behavior that a site engages in.
I hope you all find yourselves having your money confiscated some day for a simple clericle error like that. |

[ QUOTE ]
"I was that man - they gave me $30 because they told me the pot-winner had had his hand over-ruled for an undisclosed reason!" [/ QUOTE ] Mike, I had to repeat the quote because I don't think sites realize how important this is for building business. This is sooooo GOLDEN. Even the OP said that he would have no qualms about the "misappropriated" funds being returned to their rightful owners. Everyone is happy and everyone wins. |

[ QUOTE ]
HOWEVER, had you lost money, bodog would not have gotten your $100 either, and that's just another bad debt for a poker room. bad debts from unprocessed charges etc., make the cost of poker higher for all. [/ QUOTE ] If poker rooms didn't make substantially more from this method of depositing than they lose as a result of fraud, then why would they continue to offer the option? I would argue that these frauds have little to do with the cost of poker being higher, which is more to do with greed and how much they can get away with charging. The cost of poker will continue to rise, until the point we cry uncle, there is a very easy way to erradicate 100% of these frauds, but poker sites have no appetite for doing so, because it would cost them more money than maintaining the current status quo. bad debts from unprocessed charges etc., make the cost of poker higher for all. [/ QUOTE ] yet, i doubt in instances like this, when a site confiscates winnings and does not distribute to players, the cost of poker becomes cheaper for any of us. bwana |
