There is debate on whether R2D2 was Force-sensitive [/ QUOTE ] How is there debate on this? What are the points in the Yes direction? He's a robot. Whether you believe that biology crap about metaclorians or not, the force is an interaction between living things. Is there any reason to believe he's sensitive? My real question is why an ASTROMECH droid gets to go all over the place. "Oh, Princess Padme and bad-ass jedi Anakin, go on this ship to wherever, disguised as refugees. BUT TAKE THIS ASTROMECH DROID WITH YOU"? They don't have any more subtle/defensive/better robots than the one Anakin happens to use as a mechanic? edit:[ QUOTE ] There is debate on whether R2D2 was Force-sensitive [/ QUOTE ] By the way, I think we should have this whole conversation in the past-tense. FYI: Yoda's Tree, The Dark Cave and sometimes
inanimate objects can be divergences in the Force. Darth Vader and General Grievous are largely electronic, but are still Force-Sensitive. (One drawback to this is limited use of the Force, e.g. Vader cannot use Force Lightning.) Other points reference the R4 exploding when Luke's uncle was droid shopping and R2's luck never to get shot in crossfire...is he is the luckiest droid ever? -ZEN |

I don't want to get into another {IV, V, VI, I, II, III} debate, but does anybody have a list of all the StarWars books and the order I should read them? There's a roughly chronological list at Wikipedia.org, and it's friggin intimidating.
I don't want to wade through all this research; I just want to buy a couple entertaining books to read on vacation. |

Which, if any, books are "canon" that can talk about how Chewy went into life debt with Han...? [/ QUOTE ] The "Han Solo Trilogy" might be what you're looking for. It's Han's story from a young boy until just before he meets Luke and Kenobi on Tatooine. They were some of the first books written in the now massive Star Wars library. So, you can read them without knowing anything other than what's in the original movie trilogy. |

(One drawback to this is limited use of the Force, e.g. Vader cannot use Force Lightning.) [/ QUOTE ] I don't know about Yoda's tree. What's special about it? The Dark Cave, there was some sith who died there, right? Leaving a pocket of dark-sideness residue? Somebody told me that's why Yoda went to Dagobah when the jedi fell, because nobody could detect his light-side force from orbit since it was being canceled by the dark-side force left in the cave. Or some [censored]. About Vader and Grievous, even if they were more machine than man (twisted and evil), they still had people parts inside, right? If they get weaker and weaker wrt the force as they loose meat, that only encourages the idea that robots can't use the force. Does Luke's robotic hand explain why the fight scenes in VI are so much slower than in I-III? [ QUOTE ] Other points reference the R4 exploding when Luke's uncle was droid shopping [/ QUOTE ] That droid had a bad motivator. Yoda lived in an old Tree that had an unusually
strong Force presence. That and the proximity of that evil cave guided his home base choice; the Emperor couldn't detect his presence. Sidious was right, Yoda was arrogant and blinded by his own stubbornness and pride. He lost the battle in the Auditorium. It seems the only person more powerful than Sidious was Vader: Vader defeated Sidious where Luke, Yoda, Windu could not. Sidious couldn't seem to detect Luke's or Ben's presence, insisting Vader's thoughts were not clear. Vader detected Luke's sibling before the Emperor. If Luke hadn't been right (like EVERY other character told him he wasn't) and Vader hadn't had any good left in him, the Emperor wins. Luke pwned everyone, obv. -ZEN |
