[ QUOTE ] wtf FTP is a private company and they can give money to anyone they feel like it i dont see why this bothers you, OP. unless you'd be fine with FTP telling you that you shouldn't give christmas presents to your kids, or w/e [/ QUOTE ] Wrong. I'm a customer of FTP. I play in a lot of their tournaments. I play a lot of cash games. I provide a lot of revenue to them. And yes, they do care what I think. I sent all my thoughts to them in emails and they responded that they are in the process of considering my input and will get back to me. Extrapolate the trend. Instead of the 100 or so FTP Pros there are now, imagine if there were 1000. The scenario becomes ridonkulous. The variance on both their play and their marketability is such that it's impossible to tell if these people are really any good at anything. Why not just have freerolls to see who gets to be in red ? The effect would be the same. [/ QUOTE ] If FTP got 1000 pros and entered them all into a tournament (with bounties), that would instantly become the most profitable tournament on the internet. |

[ QUOTE ]
That argument doesn't make sense. If you want to relate the bar-argument to yours against FTP, then you need to assume that the people that are getting free drinks at the bar are also bringing five friends, who are all paying for their drinks. You don't seem to have a very strong grasp on marketing. [/ QUOTE ] You need to learn how to think harder. The bar analogy argument makes beautiful sense because I am making a specific analogy to the FTP Pros situation. The Sexton Twins (whomever they may be) aren't bringing along 10 paying entrants into the 500K Guaranteed. In fact, I would argue that they are bringing along precisely zero paying entrants. My bar analogy is near perfect. It went over your head either because (1) you aren't very bright or (2) you weren't paying attention. The facts are: (1) most FTP Pros are not at all well known to the average FTP tournament player (2) playing at the same table with a gooofy-looking caricature avatar that has some random name written in red adds exactly nothing to the average player's tournament experience (3) a fair number of the FTP Pros happen to stink at tournament poker, and so even if the average player is paying attention to them, they can't learn anything from them (except by fading them, which is not the idea, and so is too cute to be of practical value) Bottom line: instead of giving away buy-ins to their friends who happen to call themselves pro but who have next to no visibility or name recognition, FTP would be much better served giving away buy-ins to their loyal, consistent, regular paying customers. The analogy to the bar is perfect: a good bartender knows to ocassionally reward loyal, regular, paying customers with a free drink -- not create some idiotic A List/B List system where some customers always get all their drinks free. |

Imagine a bar that has 30-40k people in it most of the time. Does that affect how you view 16 people in the bar always getting free drinks?
Probably not because you really seem to be a moron. Oh well. |

Because you extended it to a ridiculous extreme. This isn't even slightly a problem anyway, for reasons that many people have stated more than once. |

Imagine a bar that has 30-40k people in it most of the time. Does that affect how you view 16 people in the bar always getting free drinks? Probably not because you really seem to be a moron. Oh well. [/ QUOTE ] First: The FTP 500K Guaranteed does not draw anywhere near 30-40K entrants. Today it drew 3268. Second: If word gets around, 16 A List customers is more than enough in a bar of 3252 B List customers. It's the mere fact that there is an unfair two-tier system that matters to people, not the exact fractional A List/B List breakdown. Why should regular paying customers of FTP who consistently invest their money, time, and energy, giving 100% of their competitive juices, be treated as 2nd class B List customers, while self-proclaimed "pros" (many of whom are not pro, and in fact are not even very good at poker) get 1st Class A List treatment simply because they happen to be weed blowing buddies of Chris and Perry (or whatever the connection may be) ? |

The argument here is completely theoretical, and you're not realizing it.
First: Full Tilt as a site, has 30-40k people on it, all of which are allowed to enter any tournament they want to. If they all want to play the 500k guaranteed, then they can. Just as zero of the pros have to play in the tournament. However, as a perk for being someone that Full Tilt believes will improve their business, they get to play at no cost to them. Clearly you do not understand the basic concepts of business. [ QUOTE ] Why should regular paying customers of FTP who consistently invest their time and energy, giving 100% of their competitive juices, be treated as 2nd class B List customers [/ QUOTE ] I'd just like to point out how obnoxiously worded this is. Then I would like to remind you that Full Tilt has an Iron Man promotion, where you can earn the $216 ticket for investing your "time and energy," and you can also play in a $30k freeroll where you can get out all of your "competitive juices." [ QUOTE ] while self-proclaimed "pros" (many of whom are not pro, and in fact not even very good) [/ QUOTE ] I am not going to argue about how good these "pros" are, because I agree that they're relatively terrible; however, they aren't "self-proclaimed" in the context of this argument, because it's Full Tilt that makes their names red. [ QUOTE ] Apparently you do not the possess the ability to argue logically [/ QUOTE ] How you could possess the ability to say that to another person is beyond me. Goodnight. |

My understanding is that these guys have their buy-in covered by FTP. [/ QUOTE ] Your understanding is incorrect. Sorry you guys wasted 7 pages of posts and all. |
