[ QUOTE ]
yukon i remember you posting that you are ex mormon in the past but i didn't catch that story. pretty sad stuff. mormonism is certainly one of the most demanding Christian ideologies. i hear that most churches don't get anywhere near the same amount of money per devout member as the mormons. the leaders say they want 10%, and 10 is what they get. they say give two years of your life to go convert people, and the vast majority of guys go and serve missions. they say no sex before marriage and amazingly it seems many many mormons are able to hold out. the level of devotion is pretty wild. [/ QUOTE ] I got kind of carried away with my few posts about Mormons in the past, because a Mormon poster was attacking me personally. I’ve enjoyed reading your posts. You are very respectful of the Mormon religion, pointing out the good as well as some few criticisms. I think religion probably does most people more good than harm, and I actually think Mormonism is one of the nicer of the Christian religions. I’m just pointing out that some aspects of specific religion’s descriptive morality, are indeed immoral. Your posts have been informative, and I’ve enjoyed reading them. |

I don't see many "good" points to a religion that does what this one does. It would be one thing to have these wacky beliefs and have them be even somewhat non-intrusive, but that's not the case with Mormonism. Even Catholics seem less intrusive to what you do (albeit only slightly). I don't have a problem with outside of core Mormons, they're usually fairly normal types. Inside the core though, it's really scary, and even though you see what seems to be a polished and clean exterior, you have a whole bunch of hidden issues underneath.
The masturbation is a perfect example. These people cause very serious psychological problems in their kids, and feelings of guilt that they aren't living up to the standards they should. They're taught and conditioned from a very young age that they should live their lives in service to someone else (10% plus endless volunteer hours), and when they're done, they should make sure to leave a legacy of as many little slaves to the church as they possibly can. Certainly, their families seem happy and clean, and in a lot of ways I commend the religion for being able to keep so many on the straight and narrow for so long, it's impressive to say the least. Many ex-mormons who have left the church are unstable directly because of it and they have a hatred for it. They have every right to, in my opinion, as this was something akin to a molestation of their psyche. So ya, if you don't mind the racism (which is still very fresh), the guilt, the fact that you aren't allowed to live, screw, or whack it, and are ok with a world of fantasy created by a known con artist; then their clean exterior is certainly worthwhile. To me, the interior MORE than makes up for any pleasantness their exterior can show me. Follow |

Magic Underwear... enough said. [/ QUOTE ] how is this any different from a magic skullcap, or whatever it is called that jewish people wear? or a magic dot in the middle of your forehead? or the magic hats, robes, staffs, and whatever else catholic cardinals, bishops, and popes wear? or all the magic crosses other Christians wear? (Mormons never wear crosses, another thing that is off putting to other Christians) |

And those things that are required to be worn at all times aren't subject to skidmarks. Follow |
