[ QUOTE ]
bottled water simply tastes much better, depending on where you are. some places have very good tasting tap water, and i can imagine people from those places not being able to understand the sale of bottled water, but in some places the tap water is really disgusting. [/ QUOTE ] When I used to live in Hawaii, we had incredibly fresh water, and I thought buying bottled water was idiotic and trendy. After moving to where the tap water was often vile, I understood why people buy the bottled stuff. |

[ QUOTE ]
A couple more things: 1. Tap water has extra GOOD things in it, such as fluoride. [/ QUOTE ] Really? [ QUOTE ] In San Diego, is fluoride added to the water supply? The City of San Diego currently does not add fluoride to the water supply. The State of California requires that water agencies serving more than 10,000 customers fluoridate their drinking water supplies if outside funding is provided. Presently, the City of San Diego has not received outside funding, therefore does not fluoridate the drinking water. The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (the largest wholesaler of San Diego's imported water) has elected to begin fluoridating their drinking water supplies by October 2007. [ QUOTE ] This is a huge pet peeve of mine also. I know people that carry bottled water in their own fridge that they drink instead of tap water, WTF? [/ QUOTE ] I see you've been in my fridge, you little bastard. Probably stealing my Dasani, eh? Yeah, I thought so. How you can possibly compare central Iowa tap water with Dasani is beyond me. I think I pay, what, $.25 a bottle on sale? Well worth it. Tap water sucks. [/ QUOTE ] I drink so much water in the average day that even at a quarter a bottle it would add up at the end of the month. It's not that the money would break me or anything, I just hate the idea of blowing 100$+ a month on something I'm content with spending 5. |

The tap water here in Socal isn't that bad, i'll drink it. My gf won't, so we buy alot of bottled water. I've always preferred the taste of FIJI. I don't see how people can say it doesn't taste different. When I lived in AZ I drank only bottled water. The tap was pretty terrible there. [/ QUOTE ] So Cal. water changes a lot from place to place. |

The real fish aren't people who drink bottled water, but the people that will pay $2+/bottle of the "premium" bottled water, like Fiji.

[ QUOTE ]
i have a poland spring water cooler in my apartment because it's baller. hot and cold water in an instant, and i don't care what anybody says, that ish tastes way better than NYC tap water. besides, if the turrrists decide to poison the water supply i'm in good shape. the biggest problem i have with bottled water is how wasteful it is to use those plastic containers for it. but when you have a water cooler they get re-used by the company, so it's all good. if anyone is wondering we get like 20 gallons / month plus the cooler for 30 bucks. i think it's an awesome deal because i don't have to brew tea or coffee anymore, either. [/ QUOTE ] Hearing someone say the water in NY is bad is VERY surprising to me. Have you had water outside of New York? The NY water is so good one former mayor (maybe Giuliani) considered bottling it and selling it. I lived in Philly for the past year, and I could NOT drink that water without the glass being full of ice. Ended up with 2 filters, one for the faucet, and one for the pitcher. Here on Long Island though the tap water is awesome...In NYC, most people consider it the best. I've actually yet to go to a place that has good tap water aside from the NY area. Only place was Lake Powell, in...Nevada I think. I was at Vegas, spent about a week there, and all I could get was crap water, so when I hit lake Powell, it was delicious. |

[/ QUOTE ] we have some good tap water here in st louis. my dad knew some guys from NY, that opened up a pizza joint down in florida near the condo, and they had tankers of water diverted down to florida because they couldn't get the bread, and dough right w/o ny water. |
