Just got around to watching Episode 1. Started a bit slow, but I ended up really, really liking it.
Ed O'Neill is awesome so far. If he keeps it up, I'd like to see him up for an Emmy. |

Had I known so many "Deadwood" cast members would be a part of this, I would have been much more excited about it going in.
Nice to see some NYPD Blue alums (Simone's flaky tenant, Martinez' Papi--I'm sure Medavoy will pop up eventually). |

[ QUOTE ] I saw Ellsworth week 1, and Charlie Utter and Jack McCall/Hearst's advance man who hung himself in promos as well. Any chance Keith Carradine shows up on this thing? [/ QUOTE ] nope. but you will see this guy... [/ QUOTE ] NICE! |

Dudes - WTF???
So much happening this episode, but I still have no clue what is going on. Friggin' Charlie Utter! Is the parakeet Jesus Christ? |

As much as I disliked the first one, I couldn't sleep last night so I watched ep #2 and I don't know what's happening. I didn't stick around for the whole first hour, do we have ANY idea who/what John is? An alien? Perhaps a sea creature in human form? Or maybe he's an alien whose descendants are dolphins or something? WTF?

The only thing we know is that John doesn't eat, sleep, or crap, and he doesn't say anything original outside of "The end is near" and "Mitch Yost needs to get back in the game".

[/ QUOTE ] We don't even know if those are original things (ie he could have heard those somewhere before the story picked up). I've been thinking about the connection between Shaun, John (no coincidence they rhyme?), and the parakeet. John obviously mimics everyone (both his speech and the surfing thing at the end of ep1), just like they made sure to show the parakeet doing when bobbing its head after Shaun brought it back to life. Maybe John and the parakeet are related? Maybe Shaun has powers? I just hope they're not being weird for the sake of being weird. As much as I like Lost I don't want another supernatural mystery show. It would be sweet if they were using the weirdness as a literary device to make us focus on the relationships between the characters (I've already thought about them much more than I would have). |
