Oh yeah, I finally did it in one of them freerolls last night. 2 limpers, I overlimp in the HJ with 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], folds to the BB who checks. Flop comes 445 with two clubs, checked to me and I pot it, folded to MP2 who calls. Turn 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Checked to me, I check it through and pray that he's got enough to make a river bet (I was pretty short-stacked after the flop bet, so any decent bet he makes on the river commits him to calling my all in). The river was something, I dunno, he fires out a pot-sized bet, I push for about t250 more, he calls and shows 55.
I finally hit the straight flush against the boat, and all it does is double me up in a stinkin' freeroll tournament (and I was still barely an average stack). |

Hope the thumb's alright. [/ QUOTE ] yeah. it's fine. just bruised. i embellished for the sake of being more interesting. it wasn't actually broken, though it felt it at the time when the adrenaline wore off. there's something about several tons of metal shifting uncontrollably that will get your juices flowing. |

[/ QUOTE ] Hit one the day before against a regular flush; it was capped on both turn and river. Also, I played a tourney and limped two low hearts. Flop came three hearts, I bet out with a pot sized bet, get two callers, and the third guy goes all-in. I make a quick call, the guy behind me does as well, and the other one does too. Wtf? We all show the flopped flush... 4 people, all of them flop the flush. |

I can't even remember seeing 3 people flop a flush. And I play a lot of hands... My first and so far only major online NL tourney, I was out in the first hand I played. BB special flopped a king high flush and got it all in at the flop. Other guy had the ace high. Lol. I was seriously -EV in that thing, but was looking forward to the contest, and the chance of getting in the money. Lol. |

Believe me, your result was much better long term. Eons ago, or maybe 3 years or so, I was playing in an MTT on Empire. It was a $5 buy-in, which I only remember because it also happens to be the only true MTT (100+ entrants) that I've ever won. On the first hand of the tournament, I limp behind two players from MP with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Three or four other players see the flop, which comes Q high & all diamonds. Before I even have a chance to think about how to milk this one, the guy immediately on my right open-shoves. I of course call, not even having the wherewithall to pause for a few seconds first. A player in LP does think for about 1.5 seconds before overcalling. Then the BB comes along for the ride. BB has top pair, 3 kicker, no diamond. LP has TT (there was no T on the flop). And the EP guy that shoved initially? J6, no pair, no diamond. I quadruple up & the rest is history. As far as I can remember, I've only busted on the first hand of an MTT twice. Once was KK vs. AA (of course I had the kings), all in preflop. The other was with 76s, when I flopped top two pair on the button vs an UTG raiser & two coldcallers. UTG bet out on the flop, first coldcaller called again, second one shoved, and I of course called. UTG overcalled, and the fourth guy decided to get it in, too. UTG had AA, the guy who started the shovefest had TT, and the fourth guy had 55, good for the underpair and a gutshot. Turn was a brick, river was a T. Hooray for NL! I wanted to learn so many new things, and I haven't done anything imo. And then I don't mean poker, but science. I wanted to be an expert in perception and color science by now; however, I still feel like a newbie. The more you learn, the more you realize how much you don't know. |

As far as I can remember, I've only busted on the first hand of an MTT twice. [/ QUOTE ] Ok, here's my busting out on the first hand story. I think we have 1500, and the blinds are 5/10. I pick up AA in MP, and make it 30, and get raised to 100 from the BB. I reraise to 300, and he calls and we see the flop. K82 rainbow. Pretty good if I am not up against KK, He checks, I bet 500, and he pushes. I call, and he has KQo. Turn is a deuce, and I have just enough time to think, 'well he's down to two outs' before the king hits on the river. The funny thing was, there were about 5 people that I knew at the table, and they all go crazy telling the guy who just won the hand how bad he played, because someone like me isn't going to commit a lot of chips on the first hand unless I can beat top pair. |

Did you guys ever notice that when you play tired, you are playing less aggressively? That's what happens to me, anyhow. I'm too tired to fight for pots in that case, and I'd rather just fold and be done with it. Being tired is -EV...
