[ QUOTE ] After all I think 7-8 out of 12 guys were active, that's not bad for a 1st year league. [/ QUOTE ] This is horrible. I've been in fantasy baseball leagues for well over 10yrs and have never been in a first year league with more than 1 dead team. Even then a replacement was found immedaitely. [/ QUOTE ] Considering its a bunch of guys from the internet, I'd say its pretty good, but whatever... you're a red sox fan, I wouldn't expect us to agree |

Bump.
Went through the thread to try to clarify which people are in and out regarding the current league. still in mebenhoe bugstud huskiez ftball0000 craig doughhater b00t would replace a dead team sublime roundmound westside8 ucf thayer nopeak might be up for it caldarooni pryor15 jim kuhn joe tall nopeak out james282 nolanfan34 There were 14 teams, and 7 people who want to return. We would need 7 replacements, and it looks like there is enough interest from others who are willing to take a dead team to keep the league going. To make it more fair for the replacement owners, maybe pool together all the dead teams rosters or even add the "still in" groups teams minus their keepers into the roster pool as well for the replacement managers. If anyone wants to start a new thread regarding sublime's or Joe Tall's or UCF Thayer's ideas, go ahead. I am sure many are interested in those league ideas as well. But for now, let's try to keep this thread on target. |

I would be willing to replace a dead team as well.

How does the keeper work? This is only my second season. Do the 5 players you keep count towards your 1-5th round picks. Someone had mentioned that on another board.

Someone had mentioned that on another board. craig [/ QUOTE ] Yeah in rounds 1-5 you would draft your keepers, i.e. you cannot take a player who wasn't on your season ending roster from last year. After those initial 5 rounds, any player is fair game. By the way, when you say this is only your second season, the keeper league only started last year, so it would be everyone's second season, no? Wanted to clarify that for everyone else. |

Okay, so you HAVE to keep 5. So, if for example Randy Johnson was available in the draft pool, you couldn't take him until you pick your 5 keepers.
craig p.s. Have we decided on entry fee? |

[/ QUOTE ] Right, but this rule might be modified for the replacement owners, because they weren't in the league last year so at a disadvantage. Maybe have all the "still in" people tell their keepers to bugstud beforehand, and then have all the replacements draft from all the other players for the first 5 rounds... Not sure. [ QUOTE ] p.s. Have we decided on entry fee? [/ QUOTE ] Last year it was $50. It will probably be the same next year? It seems a lot of people want to keep it at that. Also, one would expect fewer dead owners next year if any because we have weeded them out it seems? EDIT: Actually I am not sure if you HAVE to draft a keeper in those initial rounds if there was someone who wasn't on any team at the end of last season... As for your example though, Randy was almost certainly on someone's team. |

my only hesitation is $$ related. if it's in the $50 range i'm in...maybe for more depending on the structure, etc.

the setup was that if we did yahoo live draft the first 5 rounds would be everyone drafting their 5 mandatory keepers, then it's free game. I'm pretty tempted to do this on an aim chatroom though simply because 1 person not showing up ruins it for everyone.
While I like the idea of having say 6 potential keepers with a mandatory 4 or something like that, it's not what was setup for the league. And yes, I am amenable to running either A) seperate draft after all remaining teams set their keepers or B) having everyone draw for position then select the 7 teams that have been abandoned. As far as entry goes? I dunno, money's not my issue but there were people last year, like nolan, that I knew were going to be dedicated no matter what but wanted some entry AND can't really afford to do 100-200 or whatever. I don't really like it where losing the league is a burden on someone. |
