El D,

How many pieces of edamame = 1 piece of sushi?

What about ginger? How much ginger = 1 piece of sushi?

-Calda

[/ QUOTE ]

Edamame is a fool's dish in a sushi eating competition. It's like asking for extra pickles on your dog in a hot dog eating competition. No way -- those things are just tube meat + bun, and this is just fish + rice. Any dumb ass appetizers and side dishes are your own fault and ultimate undoing.

Banks: "Any credit given for Sake and Beer consumption?" No.

Cald: "How many pieces of edamame What about ginger?" STFU with this nonsense.

pj: "Any dumb ass appetizers and side dishes are your own fault and ultimate undoing." OK, good that you are finally starting to talk some sense!

Count me in in the SF bracket, although I imagine i'll certainly be an underdog.

and Sushi Hunter has provided me with several good AYCE meals, though they tend to stick to the regular stuff rather than the special rolls.

if you are in SF area, I suggest going to Pacifica for SUshi. This place is called nippon, its right of of skyline blvd.

The srvice is okey, the dcor is awful, but the sushi is so damn cheap, it is def worth it.

I'm usually full after 12-15$ bucks worth of sushi. I doubt you can eat more than 25$ worth of sushi in one sitting (unless it is some kind of specialty stuff).

If anyone wants and AYCE sushi place in NYC I'd recommend Yuka. There are some reviews there that slam them for seeing cockroaches. I've been there 4 or 5 times and never seen anything like that fwiw. It's $25 after tax and tip for ayce very good quality sushi with a decently varied menu.

Edit to note that acye menu is any time any day.

Missed this reply before I left work. I did have the salmon, which was really good. I ate 5 pieces. The also had some shittake mushroom tempura that was really good. I will add this place in my sushi rotation. Thanks!

I'm in.

There are decent all you can eat sushi places in socal - obviously not the best ever, but most cost efficient for something like this. Runs around $20 for all you can eat - less for lunch.

are you still in SD, I will be on your team!

[/ QUOTE ]

Dudes,

Sushi on the Rocks in La Jolla has a $20 all you can eat deal. Some of the best sushi in San Diego.

Holla!

[/ QUOTE ]

this could be alot of fun. if youre allowed to get high before eating i think i could put away a lot of sushi. if we are allowed a smoke break i think i could probably work on 50+.

i also will snort lines of wasabi for money.

I think an East Coast vs West Coast would be kind of neat.

We're going to need a team Euro as well. I've done ~70 nigiri and 150 pieces of maki before and think I could hold my own here if I was actually going for a competition.
