Yahoo! has a very good finance page and it's sports scores are generally the fastest out there (even faster than ESPN insiders which you had to pay for). BTW... [censored] Ebay as well. Increased fees have just about destroyed the near free products I used to be able to get off of there. There was an interesting show on CNBC of how they royally screwed their top sellers and it happens every year. More and more are leaving. Ebay also was a big supporter of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. They suck. [/ QUOTE ] You know that ebay owns PayPal, and the major reason for their support of the UIGA was to make sure PayPal was the dominant force in internet payments. I hate ebay a lot as well, their claims system is junk |

Walmart, they do a wonderful job of going into nice little towns and making all their stores go out of business. [/ QUOTE ] this is incredibly naive. they help poor towns way way way more than they hurt them... wal mart's lower prices raise real income. they literally are making poor people richer. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Walmart, they do a wonderful job of going into nice little towns and making all their stores go out of business. [/ QUOTE ] Dude their stuff is cheap. [/ QUOTE ] Have you ever thought why that is? It sure isn't because they want you to get a good deal and save money. It's because they undercut everyone with volume. [/ QUOTE ] So...you're argument is that Walmart is ruining people's lives by selling them products for less money than they would have to pay elsewhere? |

[ QUOTE ] Walmart, they do a wonderful job of going into nice little towns and making all their stores go out of business. [/ QUOTE ] This is an outstanding answer. Plus they wreck the grocery industry by underpaying their non-union, non-benefited employees such crappy wages (which translates to lower prices obv) that it forces the competition out of business or to tighten their belt even further. Can't remember the last time I was in one. [/ QUOTE ] Wal Mart is in a highly competitive market, and its out competing its competition. As you admit they have lower prices as a result, this is a benefit to consumers. as for the workers, Wal Mart owns zero slaves, so any workers wal mart employs are obviously working there because its a net benefit for them. as an aside, something I have always found ironic is that people who are wary of monopolies tend to love unions |

busto,
In most instances I despise unions, but this isn't the time nor place to go into that. It's interesting to note that non-union grocery stores in town pay like a dime more/hour to keep the unions of their back. As for Wal-Mart, I agree it is a complicated matter and can see the other side, but having spent nearly ten years working for the competition I would be much happier if they didn't exist. |

For anyone who wants to know why we hat Walmart. See the documentary "THE HIGH COST OF LOW PRICES". After seeing it you will easilly hate it.
BEST BUY- You really learn to hate a company you work for sometimes and this was mine. I thought everything about them was horrible. Thier policies are stupid. With service plans the way they [censored] customers around when they need service is horrible. I had one customer come in and needed her car sub replaced(i was an installer). Her son bought it for her on his discount which is ok. Problem is instead of replacing it with a comparable one they gave her store credit. Subs have a 50% and ^ markup so they made her pay more just to get it replaced. And this happened on more than one occasion. I could continue but it would be to long. Maybe I'll make a post about my experience there. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yea I imagine almost anyone working for the competition would like to see them out of business. particularly individuals that are a part of a strong union in a competing industry. just to add to the list, companies I hate: radio shack they gave me the strong sell on some cell phone charger, didn't work on my phone, which they explicitly told me it would work for, then came back 12 hours later with receipt in hand and they wouldn't accept the product because the plastic was opened... it was wrapped in that annoying hard plastic stuff that needs to be cut to be opened. starbucks just hate the image. hate being inside of one. the local co-operative market/organic grocery store 5$ in rural idaho for orange juice. GTFO FAIR TRADE coffee i hate that they use misnomers and emotional blackmail to basically trick the consumers into paying more. essentially fair trade coffee has nothing to do with trade policies. its just a brand name of coffee that people pay more for. and they are willing to pay more because there is a promise that more of the money goes to farmers. so farmers benefit(maybe? it's hard to say). rich business men REALLY benefit. consumers might recieve some psychological benefits, but are largely being duped. echoing another poster, Truth and other anti-tobacco companies. for obvious reasons. |

Time Warner Cable and Best Buy aren't exactly invited to my next birthday party. I'm sure there are others.
