Default Re: 1000 Push ups per day

I usually knock out 4 sets of 25 push ups every hour during my poker sessions. My sessions are about 3-4 hours usually, so I do about 3-400 push ups a day.

I am in average shape and never work out, and this is relatively easy for me, and yes I do use proper form.

With that said, I think that 1000 push ups a day is reasonable, if you have the time and just the dedication to making yourself do them.

Jack LaLanne's Feats

#
# 1956 (age 42): Jack set a world record of 1,033 push ups in 23 minutes on You Asked for It, a television program with Art Baker. He later celebrated by inventing a new fitness regime which would train all parts of the body at one time, calling it the star jump.

[/ QUOTE ]

Why the hell is there a record for most push ups done in a 23 minute period? People keep track of that?

[/ QUOTE ]

that record is weak:

I personally have done it. Granted, it was during my Hell Week of pledging my fraternity, but we averaged about 1k push ups a day for 7 days straight. For the first 3 days we were up 24/7 (72 hours duh). We typically did 30-100 pushups an hour, which easily averaged out to over 1k a day.

We would do 20 pushups here, 30 pushups there. It adds up rather quickly. 20 pushups only takes about 20-30 seconds.

I can barely do 10 continuous and I don't think I've done more than 25 in day. This really pisses me off, not that I do much to amend it. I have reasonable muscles and I'm not fat (yet). Oh well.

the problem is, most people don't train to do a lot of pushups. When i first started, i did 6 sets of 30 pushups, and it took me about 5 months until I could do 20 sets of 20 pushups consistently. Then it took another 2-3 months before I could do the 400/500 in ~25 minutes. The reason why I think i can do it again with 1 month (or so) of getting back into shape is that when i was training more regularly, i normally did a 4-5 mile run before pushups/situps, and pushups/situps were followed by a few sets of pullups (totaling 60-100 pullups, depending on the day), and then 20 sets of 15 dips, then followed by 1 hour of swimming.

OK. I am going to say this once and once for all...
You are all incredibly gay. People on 2p2 throw out formulas with authority that they would never attempt in rea life. People on 2p2 tell you the "rules" of dating and the "rules of attraction" and never read Bret Easton Ellis--bless their souls.

You can ll suck my dick. You are all self-indulgent, predominantly narcissistic [censored]. And yeah, you will suck my dick in the future. I don't even know what else to say, except that when I run into a new person at my ELITE college , and they express insecurities of knowledge, I point them to this BS forum.

Congrats, you are the LCD. You can steal money from idiots, and before you call me a hypocrite, YEAH! I am an erstwhile success in poker.

[censored] yourselves. And ball out as much as you want. And cry when you realize that me and my friends are contrlling your life.

SMD,

RD

why would anyone do 1000 or 1500 pushups in a day or every 2nd day? what the hell?

[/ QUOTE ]

You can do them anywhere, and they don't put as much strain on your joints as weight lifting. I got alot of strange looks for a while (deservingly) but it's so much easier to knock them out throughout the day at work. And since i'm a limp wristed breakable little bitch, i don't lift weights.
