Wow - I'm amazed that, albeit vague, memory still occupies some part of my brain.

Also - gotta big up Shadowgate for the NES.

I just recently beat Secret of Mana again. I LOVE that game! Easily one of the best RPGs of all-time. I remember back when my bro and I lived together and had the SNES versions we played it multi-player. I can't think of any other multi-player RPGs like it. Really cool game.

Recently I started playing Chrono Trigger again. Also easily one of the best RPGs I've ever played. So much variety, so many things to do, and has some great moments. And I love the endings. My favorite ending is when you lose to Lavos. Right when I first arrive at End of Time I always save, then go on a suicide mission against Lavos to watch the ending. I dunno what it is about that ending, but it always sends a chill to my bone.

For slightly newer ones... I haven't played many. Wild Arms was cool, and I loved Star OCean: Second Story. Both of them for PS1.

I've played very few true RPGs in my life, but after playing Paper Mario I decided that now I had a taste for it. I bought FF6 for my DS to give it a shot. And wow, I feel like an idiot for ignoring this genre for so long. What an amazing game. I'm now going to have to find a way to play through most of the games that have been listed here.

I think people not saying FF7 was the best just love going against the grain, or are just biased towards the early games cause they are the first they played. FF3 and Chrono are very very close IMO, with FF2 right there with them. FF7 has them all slightly beat.

It's because FF7 marked the turning point to all FF game's male characters to begin looking like 12 year old girls.
