[ QUOTE ]
Say there are two roullette wheels. Wheel A has been spun 20 times and has come up red every time! Oddly enough, Wheel B has alternated red and black outcomes for it's 20 spins, and the 20th spin was black. Which wheel is more likely to hit black on it's 21st spin?

[/ QUOTE ]
Wheel B, because wheel A is obviously one of those "all red" wheels that they bring out whenever Wesley Snipes is in town.

I think it is, yes.

But that doesn't make any sense. The odds of missing it 20 times in a row are very low. Are you telling me that if you miss a flush draw 99 times in a row by some crazy strike of probality, on the 100th time its the same chance? If that was true, than probability wouldn't work. I used to be a roulette player in the casino, I won some, and lost some, but overall I'm up. The reason why is I knew to only bet colors, and only bet a color that hadn't come up in a while, because the odds of red not coming up 10 times in a row are low. Why do you think they have a history chart at the tables?

The funny thing is, I've had this argument about 5 times in my life. First one was in 3rd grade about rolling a 6 - x times a row - in dice. Never thought I'd see it taken so seriously on this forum though. Mindboggling.

I kept reading and I am so glad I did. So many wonderful lines. This of course was one of the best:

Lol, we'll be sitting at that table for a long time. Plus I'm not saying its impossible for that coin to come up heads on the 20th flip, just more unlikely than tails. So 100:1 is a little steep. I'd definitely give you like 1.5:1 or maybe even 2:1 though.

[/ QUOTE ]

Buddy I'll take 1.01:1

And then this:

[ QUOTE ]
Of course, you can also bet on every number, but just raise your bets significantly when betting on the end of a streak (this will help avoid suspcicion by the casino).

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes the casinos are always on the lookout for roulette counters. That's why the MIT roulette team uses disguises.

I'm still confused......

So, if the wheel comes up Red 20 times in a row...

Do I bet on black because It's due to come up black, or red because that is the pattern?

Seriously... I read a casino insider's book on the very subject of these boards that display the recent spins of roulette wheels.

The reason these were placed in the casino definately wasn't to give the players better odds.

They are there to sucker people with this exact way of thinking. They are to catch the eyes of people walking by who see that there might be some "pattern" to the wheel or that something is "due".

You, sir, are a victim of marketing.
