Yea, this is just high school girls being stupid and being enamored with someone in a position of authority who isn't like 50 years old. I also teach and I'm young, and I've also heard similar comments like these. Something similar has happened to me many times.

Girls at the onset of puberty are going through a lot, and the sexual messages society gives them are much more mixed up than those given guys. Leads to some explosive possibilities and reactions. Be kind to them. And as always, don't expect a lot of rationality.

Good luck. It's hard to sexually push away an inexperienced, hormone-crazed girl without making her feel really bad. Pretty scary, really, how high the emotional stakes can be for a kid. It's good that you got a heads-up from Mom. Now that you can see problems coming from a long way away, you can be careful not to give anyone the wrong idea, make them feel rejected, or string along their feelings in any way.

Good thing your Mom is friends with these parents, too, or you might even come under unfair scrutiny or be thought to be encouraging some level of sexual interplay with the kids.

This isn't that much of a problem, just ignore. My former neighbor's daughter was overtly flirtatiius with me, as a 22 year old. She is 14, 13 and 12 at the time. If you just ignore, it will probably die out mostly.

This girl was a JV cheerleader, and my god is she hot. Without time to screw up their bodies, girls on modern food really get smoking hot, as evidenced by the ridiculous jailbait in that one pic.
