[ QUOTE ]
Just need to figure out how to spend my 75k fpp. Is it better to get the Samsung 32" tv that stars has, or get onecall.com gift certificates and get a hdtv through them? [/ QUOTE ] Name 30 stars. (You knew it was coming.) I only have enough for about 5 stars, but I was thinking about trying to play in ONE Sunday Million before I quit. Are the FPP satellites soft (like I expect) or am I better off buying in directly with FPPs? |

[ QUOTE ] I just decided I'm going to work to become a professional photographer. Or at least make a book that I'll try to sell. No idea what I'm doing other than that I think I have a good eye. But screw it. It will be nice to put all my effort into something a little more rewarding. Something that does routinely kick me in the teeth, knock me down, and fart in my face. I think also if I have something else I may enjoy poker more and not be so stressed out. [/ QUOTE ] Um... not to discourage you, dude... but I FYP to reflect the life of a professional photographer. Hard work, near-constant rejection, and paltry earnings are par for the course. Even more so than for poker at the moment. [/ QUOTE ] I've got to agree here. Unless you're somehow already established in the business in some way, trying to become a photographer will likely be much, much harder than poker has ever been for you. I suppose working as a standard kids/pets/weddings photographer could be somewhat easier, but that also require large startup costs, will take time to establish a workflow, and most importantly, sucks hard and is not rewarding at all if you truly believe you have talent. And if you want to do any sort of commercial photography, the really interesting stuff? You're going to have to work as a freelance assistant for years before you start getting work on your own. And it may take a year or more before you're even getting enough work as an assistant to live solely off of. And it will be even more difficult to do any of this if you don't live in NYC, LA, or Chicago. It's really a lot like just deciding to move to LA and try to make it as an actor. It's THAT hard. |

I was always a part-time player, but I made more last year as a PT midstakes player than I did at my day job. After this week, I'm going to start withdrawing and transitioning to primarily live play, when I can get around to it.
30 hands/hr sucks though I'm really hoping the US casino giants get involved relatively soon, though, and can bring back a regulated online poker to the US. |

I'll keep playing until every site pulls out, or there's no practical way at all to get my money in/out, or until the average player in the remaining 2/4 and 3/6 limit games is like 15/10/2 (or even worse, like the WPEX 25/24/4 types). A week ago, I would have put the odds of this ever happening at like 5%, now I feel like it's 50/50 that one of these will happen within 3 months.
But thank God we're safe from all that terrorist money-laundering now. Good thing our gov't is looking out for us! |

Hell no I ain't hanging it up. Did alcoholics give up during prohibition? Us gambling degenerates need to stick together and not let 'the man' take away our rights to go broke anyway we choose.
On the serious side, I wish PS or FTP would get their stuff together and find away to provide us with offshore accounts; or hell nothing is stopping them from taking money orders or cashiers checks even. May take an extra couple days, but if we let a right this small go we may as well learn to goose-step. |

I am done. I don't like going over hoops to get my money in and out of Poker sites. I don't depend on Poker for any thing other than a few extra bucks every month. Good luck to ya'll who still want to play.

I have about 400 bucks left in my FT account, having made a couple of fortuitous withdrawals before the roof caved in. I play online for fun, not groceries. When that money is gone, I’m gone, the parties over. Anybody who doesn’t realize this is kidding themselves. This aint going to” blow over”. The government is serious about shutting this down. Liquidity is the lifeblood of this industry, and if I can’t get my money out when I want to, there is no sense in playing. The arrests will continue, each time throwing a monkey wrench in the whole situation. I have no desire or need to chase “the money transfer scheme of the week”. I’m glad I’m not one of these US poker pro’s who are part owners of these sites. They’re on the list, and they know it.
When the government passed the internet gaming bill, in hindsight, the response of the poker sites was stupid. Except for PP and Pacific, the rest of them said “Business as Usual”. They bragged about it. Publicized it. You can turn on the TV at any hour and see a poker show funded by one of these sites, but the biz is illegal. Guys, the government doesn’t like it when you thumb your nose at them, and this is exactly what has happened. The government is not in the business of passing laws and having people PUBLICLY flout them. Food for thought: when was the last time the government passed a bill into law, and you had entities falling all over themselves to publicize the fact that they were breaking the law? Bragging about it no less. I’m lucky, I have B&M’s close to me, with players much worse than the hudbots you face regularly on line. I beat them at higher stakes regularly like a drum, thanks to what I learned on line. As the marginal players leave, the games on line are going to get unbeatable except by just a few of the top sharks, which I am not. People are fantasizing about new sites or new payment options as a means of adjusting. There is only one sure adjustment guys- you are going to have to venture to your local B&M and swim among the drunks and degenerates. See you there! |

I'm not going to quit but I won't be surprised if I go busto and get forced into having to get a job and as has been noted filling in a 3 year absence of employment.
