I'm not that worried at the moment and i'm not going to start transfering money solely because of this But i have to say that i'm keeping my eyes open in case the events start moving to a more worrying direction.

Yeah, that seems sensible.

As someone who is a brit and thus covered massively by the FSA im one of the most protected customers of neteller, but at the same time i have no problems moving my cash from neteller to stars just in case.

Again, im 99.99% sure that nothing will go wrong, but i dont want to lose the cash that 0.01% of the time.

No point in all the hysteria now, no one knows what the deal is until later today - but if you are slightly worried then move cash to a site, it can be moved back extremely quickly and easily at a later hour.

this is from yahoo news. this does not sound good for everyone who wants to pretend its no big deal.

"Stephen Lawrence and John Lefebvre were detained on Monday while traveling separately in the United States, NETeller said, becoming the latest victims of the U.S. crackdown on Internet gaming."

Probably just being paranoid, but I'd feel better if the oddly-timed Pinnacle withdrawal (from the US) hadn't just happened.

The fact that Neteller is a Member of the FSA is what makes having your money with them so safe. There is zero chance of a loss unless there was some massive internal fraud going on, (the prevention of which is one of the main reasons for the existence of the FSA), that had nothing to do with and was coincidental to the current situation.

On the other hand, there is zero protection if you have your money with an offshore internet poker site. The site may not go bust in the next day or two, but if they felt they had a reason to hold your money, they would, and you would have no way on Earth to get it back.

IMO.

The evolution of this thread is interesting. At first they wanted to censor and ban me. Then we hear yes it's true but it is no big deal. Now we hear that this billion dollar company has suspended trading in the UK.

When an indictment is unsealed later today against Neteller, PLC and the US Govt demands billions of dollars, I suspect the run on the bank there will be astronomical.

Lucky for us we have the mods here to make sure that when it comes to our money, we will all stay in the dark until everything is reported in the NY Times.

If Neteller decides to not pay US customers, I wonder if the poker sites will honor the deposits made recently from Neteller.. Pokerstars probably, UB no [censored] way, Fulltilt maybe. Doylesroom yes. Fullcontact poker, yes. Bodog Maybe.

fleece_me,

As I've explained earlier in this thread, I had no interest in censoring anything except a possible troll post of an unsubstantiated rumour. These happen often in the Zoo - it's part of the reason this is called the Zoo - and waste everyone's time. Luckily, I caught yours almost immediately, and, from memory, there had only been six views. I knew that if there was any truth in the rumour, someone with more nouse than you would very soon open a thread with a link. No harm would be done with the quick deletion; but possible good if your post was simply intended to disrupt.

If your first post had opened with "See enclosed link to arrests", then your thread would have developed like this one. Instead you chose to open with "Is the rumour of Neteller arrests true?", period, instead of doing a simple Google-search and providing us with a link.

Owing to your continued emotive tone with the seeming intention of trying to whip up a hysteria, plus your continued personal abuse of me while I'm trying to do the best (voluntary) job of moderation that I can under the current difficult circumstances of regular and ongoing site outages and hangs, I have given you a short time-out to cool down. Please feel free to complain to an Administrator, if you wish, but you should note that if you post in the open forums and disclose that you are posting as the temp-banned persona to get round what you think is an unjustified temp-ban by a power-mad moderator, you will be perma-banned by me, any other moderator, or an Administrator.

Yeah because staff reporters are so good about getting all the facts straight before pumping out a wire story. :-)

You may want to reread teh section of Neteller's terms and conditions that spell out the Neteller Card. For Americans, they use a US bank for the card transactions. As soon as you move money from your Neteller account to the card is shows up on the books of a US bank with your name and SSN attached to it.
