I feel pretty bad cos I seem to be the only person in the thread who finds the plan pretty great, and the whole situation hilarious.

TC, Thanks for making this post, and I agree completely that HIV and shaundeeb are scum if what you post is true, plus so is togni. However, the following makes you seem not exactly scum-free yourself: "Tongni would sit in the game using HIV's account and bait people into taking shots and absolutely destroy them. At the time, I didn't think anything of it, since I didn't think they'd specifically target nath and gildwulf." [/ QUOTE ] That's exactly what I was thinking. Now I havn't read the "other" thread so I don't know what any of that has to do with this. OP, Would you tell me if I'm wrong but the way I read that was "It's ok to screw people over as long as they aren't friends of mine". |

[ QUOTE ] I dont think their crime is as bad as you are making it out to be because: a) They clearly were not operating very stealthily crimes in broad daylight are always less bad than people make it out to be. killing someone in broad daylight, meh. killing someone in a dark alley, now THATS bad! b) It looks to be more of a prank than a con if i sold you a $10,000 car which i claimed to be brand new but actually didn't run, is this a "prank"? c) You can beat the [censored] out of them if you want ah, the possibility of future battery always makes current crimes less severe. [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] a) No Crime was committed, the plan failed b) See a c) Twas a joke. Violence is never the answer! d) It looks as if they were not the only people who have done or considered doing this type of ploy. If you want to be sure you are playing somebody else, play them in real life. You can never be sure of anything in online poker, and I am not sure if poker sites even require you to be playing on your own account. |

Victor,
I think there's often a level of scumminess to it, but there are degrees. A "named" Full Tilt pro is different than a regular anonymous username and having a different player playing the "named" account is scummier. It is far scummier when someone claims to be a specific person as opposed to their opponent making an assumption. To me, the main question of scumminess comes down to whether or not you lied outside the context of the game. Had jman asked the guy "Is this Patrik Antonius playing?" and the guy said "No." then I would consider that much scummier than what apparently happened. Obviously, there are tons of degrees/variations of what I'm saying. I think there's a spectrum between "normally expected behavior in online games" and "straight out lying/scamming someone" in terms of scumminess degree. |

Nath why would A be happening under innocent circumstances? [/ QUOTE ] I personally think it is wrong, but it is so common that it sort of has become accepted. Ref. all the sitngo'ers who knew Zeejustin did this without reacting. Also ref. a few respected posters here who have done it, among them one you could trust in every possible way in other matters (so he obviously think this is ethically ok). |

Yeti,
"I feel pretty bad cos I seem to be the only person in the thread who finds the plan pretty great, and the whole situation hilarious." I feel the same way. I also feel like it was very scummy and wrong. |
