Football- Jim McMahon (yes I know the Bears won a superbowl but he doesn't get much of the credit for it)
Baseball- Brook Jacoby, 3B for the Indians in the 80's early early 90's. |

Rafael Belliard. [/ QUOTE ] LOL this is exactly who I was going to say after reading the thread title. One homer in 87 with the Pirates, another a decade later in Atlanta. Always came in for Blauser late in games cause Jeff played a [censored] SS and Raffy had a great glove. I remember watching the game where he hit his 2nd homer. I just about [censored] my pants. Ironically I seem to remember it was at three rivers...I might be imagining that though. Raffy was an important part of that 95 team, the only championship of one of my favourite teams (Braves, Flames) I've ever experienced. |

I loved Joe Orsulak for years, and if I could meet any pro athlete it would still be him. I loved watching him on the horrible late eighties Orioles teams. The dude would dive to make a catch when there was clearly no reason to. Every year they would talk about whether Joe would make the team in the spring training talk, and every year he would have the best or second best batting average on the team.

Between B. Ripken, Devereaux, Orsulak and Mickey Tettleton the late-80s Orioles were a veritable juggernaut of lovable scrubs.

Even better than Three Rivers: it was at Shea.

Watching Chili Davis was always an adventure. He loved to break bats over his head or thigh after striking out which was all too often.
I also loved watchin Kevin Mitchell in his short lived prime. Now that guy was on something for sure. |
