[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] In my perfect world there would be such a system. But even without the system, it would be nice to know that the two players with big stacks on your table, who haven't played a pot against each other for 8 hours in the WSOP main event had swapped 40%, wouldn't it? [/ QUOTE ] Kind of...without the system that we mentioned in place, this would just create a maximum amount of suspicion while not doing anything to combat actual cheating, so the net result would be bad for the game. Knowing who MIGHT be cheating doesn't help us know who IS cheating. Also, if there isn't even any justice taking place if someone is found out to be softplaying or cheating, it's an unsatisfying solution designed to spread antipathy and mistrust while not acheiving integrity. [/ QUOTE ] A good point. But, on balance, I would rather know who had a piece of who than be oblivious of the facts. I remember reading some big named player suggesting that swaps were limited to a rooting interest of maybe 3 or 5%. I think this is an excellent idea. It is ludicrous that players cannot do deals at final tables of WPT events yet can own any % of another player. Which of these shows poker in a worse light? |

El D,
If you really want to know who they back so bad. Just tune into the daily 109rb's on stars, and see who they are sweating. That would probably be a start. |

Shane,
Lets suppose the following scenario: A backer and his horse made the final 4 in a big tournament with $1.6M for 1st, 900k for 2nd 600k for 3rd, 300k for 4th. The distribution of chips is: Backer = 60% Stranger 1 = 15% Horse = 15% Stranger 2 = 10% Do you think the play by the backer would be somewhat affected by the situation? |

[/ QUOTE ] This is a pretty extreme situation since normally payouts are much differnt, and would be much more top heavy, like 1.6m, 800k, 400k,300k |
