I totally forgot that my wife DID in fact meet Hugh Hefner, when she went to the Halloween party at the Mansion. She met him just long enough for him to say, "I can't sign that."

Played poker in a home game a couple times with Antonio Esfandiari before he was famous. Went to a video store to try to find someone else and asked Quentin Tarantino who worked there, before he was famous.

I don't think I've met anyone after they were famous, so I'll just go with OOT fame and say Boris. It's possible I met El Diablo before I knew about 2p2.

edit: Oh, and a story. Well, nothing really, but Antonio is really freaking good at card tricks. We were all right next to him and watching him like hawks and he could still pull them off.

I met Richard Lewis playing 2/4 at the Golden Nugget. I taught him how to throw his chips so they didn't roll all over the table. It's all in the wrist.

about 10 years ago i was at a friends house. he lives near a real estate mogul, Bill Knapp. probably one of the richest people in des moines. anyways, it was Bill Knapps 75th birthday, so he got Willie Nelson to play.

so my friend and I hear music at night so we go to the fence of Bill Knapps enormous property to listen. as we get there i see there are a bunch of poor townfolk from the nearby small town, and they are sitting in their pickups and listening to Willie Nelson from afar (theres trees around the property, so you cant see in). well my friend and i said [censored] that, so we jumped the fence, sneaked past the security guards, and made it to the tent where Willie and his band were playing. We ended up watching the rest of the show, which was at least a good hour. As we were walking back after the show, we were walking by a tour bus, and some guy pops out and asks if we want to talk to Willie. well obviously we do so we get on the bus and chill with Willie for 5-10 minutes, he autographs pictures for both of us then we leave.

and as we are walking away (on cloud 9) the firework show started, so we sat in the grass and watched it. prob one of the best nights ever for me.

My Freshman year at Ohio State I sat next to Art Schlichter. I was in the Marching band and we would talk a lot about the games.
He was the starting QB for Ohio State from 78-81 and was a pretty big deal in College football back then. He was a #4 pick in the draft and then was kicked out of the NFL for his addiction to Gambling.

A near connection was Dwight Yoakam.

My best friend when I lived back in Ohio was a good friend of his. He played in several bands with Dwight including the Greaser Band. He used to talk to me about what an idiot Dwight was because he had left and was starving, living on chip dip and trying to be famous.

also i met Woody Harrelson last year in london. my friends and i saw a play with Woody in it, then afterward met him outside and got a pic. he seemed happy to talk to americans, so i asked if he wanted to smoke a joint with us, and he obliged. we went to an alley nearby and did the deed, then he left. hes a really cool guy.

One day about 10 years ago my friend and I were going up to the 4th floor of mall of america. We're walking in and about 6-7 huge black guys walk out. I turn to my friend and say "uh wasn't that..?" and he's like hmm yeah I think so. We continue walking in when about 5 girls from hooters come running up to us and say "have you guys seen shaquille o'neil?" We just point to the exit and they go running off.

Met Muhammed Ali at an airport, got a few pictures with him and a signed pamphlet on Human Rights in Islam, this was just a few weeks after he lit the torch at the Olympics so it was pretty cool. Surprisingly he was just kind of by himself sitting at the gate, the girl working in the bookstore told me he was over there.

Other one, related to one above, Dave Hansen of Slapshot fame was my little league coach. I was too young to have seen the movie, but since having seen it I wish I had known how cool he was back then.
