Killer Poker Online

The second book on poker I ever read, and while it was a mildly entertaining read, I kept waiting for the bit where it told me how to play

[/ QUOTE ]

This was probably the most helpful book I've ever read, and I own 15-20 books or so. You're right - it's probably the only one that DOESN'T specifically talk about strategy. If you had read the first couple pages, table of contents, or even the back of the book before purchasing, you would have known that

[/ QUOTE ]

ZOMG. are you serious??!!?

OK. Don't take this as an insult, but what exactly did you find in those books that was helpful?

Killer Poker- Onlime 1 and 2 are both very good books. I do not think you should put them up there with most of the good 2+2 books- I do not see how any online poker player could not pick something up from his books.

As far as not mentioning pokertracker- learning how to read players based on their actual play is a valuable skill to develop. If you ever get to play in a B+M you will quckly notice that you cannot use the stats from pokertracker etc..

The only way yould could say the books are "crap"- is if you are so good at poker that you have already learned everything that this is to be learned about poker. If this is the case, please author a book so I can read it and be as knowledgable at poker as yourself.

Last night I read about half of Jay Greenspan's Hunting Fish. It was absolutely horrible. Page after page of him whining about bad beats, boring personal stories, and skewed poker logic. Luckily, I checked it out from the library.

I picked up Killer Online when I was first starting out playing 10c/20c - basically I remember it introduced me to concepts like note-taking (I stole a lot of abbreviations and ideas from JV that I still use today, 18 months later, at $5/10), playing under only optimal conditions, avoiding tilt, things like that. Maybe this book is indeed good for beginners at online poker - but I'm gonna re-read it again as soon as I find it
