[ QUOTE ]
Comparing ND to WV is a joke, since it's universally acknowledged that WV's schedule is probably the easiest in the country for a national title contender. That being said, through 1/3 of the season, ND has played the hardest schedule in the country according to Sagarin, and still has to play a top 3 team in USC at their place to end the season. Hardly sounds like an easy schedule to me.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think the burden is on OP personally to prove this is cake.

No one who is sane says that ND plays an easy schedule compared to almost everyone else. Texas will play an easier schedule more than likely.

Playing 2 good teams and 2 mediocre teams, and 8 awful teams is a lot easier than playing 1 good team, 8 mediocre teams, and 3 awful teams.

[/ QUOTE ]

Can we break this up by top 10, top 25, top 50, and garbage instead of something arbitray like what you're saying?

Schedules are done many years in advance so scheduling a typically powerhouse program (Tenn last year, UCLA this year) that isn't as good as before is just random luck. ND looks for tough games to play in addition to their Big East/Big 10 rotation.

Just want to chime in and say both coaches in this game were complete idiots

First, the easy target of John L Smith:
-poor use of timeouts to end the first half. WTF was he thinking. He had momentum, he had the wind. Based on previous years' games verse ND and others, he should've known 17 point lead wasn't safe. MSU should've been up another score before half.
-Turned off the offense. Why? WHo the hell knows. I was in the sports betting IRC chat saying that ND was more than 50/50 to cover 2.5 when down 10. Apparently, John L couldn't see the same thing.
-Taking the knee on the kick return. Yes, the college clock runs quicker, but you cannot run off over 5 minutes. Holy hell, just bad preparation.

Now, onto charlie Weis--he's not the next coming peopl think (unless you're thinking of the next coming of Willingham)
-The 2-point play was awful. The announcers covered this in-depth. No need to rehash.
-Going for it on 4th and 7. The announcers covered this, but not nearly enough. ND was down 10. Momentum had changed. There had been 2 successful stops of MSU in a row as John L was trying to run out the whole second half. ND had the wind. Instead of pinning them deep and keeping the pressure on, ND went for it in a situation where success is less than 20%. MSU got a short field and got their only second half score as a result.

It was the battle of mental midgets to see who could coach their team to a worse loss.

You didn't make a point. You proved the fact for me, since everyone under the sun knows that WV's schedule is an absolute joke. Compare it to a team from the Big Ten (#1 OSU, #6 Michigan), a team from the SEC (#5 Florida, #2 Auburn), etc. and it's pretty clear that ND's schedule is not hard at all.

Also, the reason they played the hardest scheudle through 1/3 of the season is b/c everyone else plays scrub teams getting ready for conference play. Teams in the big conferences don't have the luxury of being able to schedule a lot of tough games early, b/c they have to worry about getting through their gauntlet conference play. Saying that ND has had the toughest schedule so far (which may or may not be true) means very little

Oh yeah, do I have to point out every year what BS nonsense the ND schedule is?

They play teams with good PR, but who ultimately fail. They beat ZERO teams ranked in the top 25 last year. So far, they probably beat ZERO teams that should be in the top25. The big10 is so awful, however, that Penn St or MSU might squeak in...we'll see.

Put away your straw men and put up their schedule and break it down for me.

I'll help.

ND and Michigan both play Michigan St. and Penn St. and each other, so schedules are exactly equal so far. USC and Ohio State is a complete wash in terms of difficulty.

The rest of the schedules look to be a complete wash except for Iowa which is much better than whatever scrub ND is playing (Probably an academy since they play them all the time).

Certainly not a jopke. And I like how you've cited schools who have already played big games or are set to play them.

How about outsiders like Louisville or WVU... Maybe Texas schedule is a little soft or maybe USC's is not that hard as an SEC schedule.
