I haven't really played it recently. I may have played-it-as-a-kid-and-liked-it-then bias.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think I was an arcade snob even as a kid.

It was definitely a fun game, though. I was just pointing out that it wasn't the best representation of Golden Axe, and didn't mean to tarnish your childhood memories.

Please note that I'm completely wrong about Golden Axe, and misremembered everything. The Genesis version was better than the Arcade, and had 2 extra levels too.

Strider
Revenge of Shinobi

Oh yes,I forgot about Strider. That game was amazing for its time.

At one point I even owned the playstation version and replayed it on my ps2.

I almost forgot, Maximum Carnage. I think my grandma paid $70 for it and it was the best birthday present I ever got

Altered Beast

and Golden Axe

[/ QUOTE ]

Both of these were just Arcade games ported to Genesis. If you are going to argue that a game is a must play it really shouldn't be a rehashed version of a game that was available in coin-op a year and a half earlier. Its like saying that the made for TV version of the shining with the guy from WINGS is a must see.

Well, if it weren't for that, I wouldn't have realized that Golden Axe was as good as it really was on the Genesis.

I'm thinking that we could have en entire video game forum, since there seem to be many of us who love games.

@noodle: Altered Beast was pretty neat on the TG-16, but I think the Genesis Version was pretty much the same as the Arcade + a bear you could morph into. That's not really the same as the crappy Shining remake, but I'll agree that it doesn't stand on it's own as a Genesis game.

The improved Golden Axe was a good example of a game at that time that either matched or outdid the Arcade version, so I think it holds up as a Genesis title for that reason.

Mutant League Football was entertaining, but doesn't really belong

[/ QUOTE ]

Dude, Mutant League Football and later Mutant League Hockey were pretty amazing as far as being fun goes. I even remember the Saturday Morning Cartoon based on MLF starring Casey Bones and Sugar Ray Lizard.

That [censored] was tight.
