Will adding even more memory, HD space, ram, whatever make a difference (even if I already have a ton?)?

In other words, let's assume for arguments sake that I have the biggest, fastest computer alive. Would that completely stop the problem?

Hi, I have also been experiencing huge problems as of late. I was oftentimes at 100% CPU Usage, but lately it only goes up to 100% when Poker Tracker is doing an import, and then goes back to something manageable. Following all the advice in this forum seems to have helped a lot. Problem is, I am sometimes experiencing freezes in which I can not click my mouse (this is obviously really bad times when you're in the middle of a NL pot at a no DP table). I can move the mouse cursor, but each time I try to click, I get no results except for the windows default beep sound. Here's all the info I know of that might help:

Computer stats:
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+
1.81 GHz, 2 GB RAM

Programs running when freeze occurs:
PartyPoker, 4-6 tables either being actively played or datamined, at least some played
PokerAceHud
PokerTracker, Postgres
FreePHG

Also, in one case of freeze I had Autohotkey and Demonster running, in one case I did not.

Just to confirm what others have said, I have not had any problems while datamining alone (I happen to be using IWitness for that).

Lag is one thing, and not being able to act in the middle of a pot is another, of course. Would the experts here recommend I buy better hardware of some kind, or go another route? If it requires any work-intensive assistance I'd be happy to pay/donate. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Although I think GT+ is likely a big culprit. I didn't notice before but it was at like 55+ CPU usage while playing. URG. Maybe I'll try PAHUD again I dontfkinknow.

This is probably NOT the problem. I am using PAHUD WITH the cache enabled and regulary updated and still have MAJOR problems while playing (80-95% cpu usage constantly). I use POSTGRES and compress my DBs everydag.
I doubt doubling the computation power you have (which is not the same as doubling the amount of memory you are using) will cut your current CPU usage with a factor of two.
Anyone know if full tilt is as CPU demanding?

If you want to throw money at the problem, your best bet is to buy a cheap server to put Postgres and the PT import process on. Leave PAH plus your gaming applications on your main computer.

This should alleviate a large chunk of CPU load and leave plenty of CPU for Party + PAH.

WHen buying a server for a database importance is as follows:

1. Hard drive speed
2. Memory
3. CPU

CPU speed isnt nearly as important as your hard drive since databases read/write from disk frequently which is not a computational task. I highly suggest 10K RPM disks. I"m thinking about doing just this...

Buying a cheap server/computer and only putting Postgres + PT on it. Buying a couple 10K RPM hard drives with about 2 gigs of RAM and maybe a P4 2.4 GHz processor. This should be plenty and shouldnt cost too too much.

I'm having this problem too. It happens even if party is the only thing running. No PT, no PO, no HUD at all. I'm 6 tabling cash games.

I have a 3 gigHz celeron. I only have 1 gig of RAM, but there is plenty of free RAM.

PartyGaming.exe uses up almost all my CPU.

This was happening to me just now. I had 3 monster tables and 3 non-monsters. My CPU usage for PartyGaming.exe was always over 90%, usually near 100%. I closed the 3 monsters and replaced them with non-monsters.

Now PartyGaming.exe is still a hog, but it jumps around, and is usually under 50%.
