I think the tourney first is better, since you can leave a cash game when you want. Also, I can't win a tourney if I'm shitfaced. Drew, is your couch(es) available? Dan [/ QUOTE ] you'll bust out of the tourney pretty early anyway, so don't worry about it. I have two friends in town, so no couches available, sorry. We'll have to cut you off. Also, respond to the damn evite. |

Looks like we need another table....whoever said they can bring one, come out of the woodwork please. [/ QUOTE ] Don't panic. I can bring one of mine. Its just that I have to kind of bend my head a bit while driving because its a bit long. I don't get all happy about travelling with it, but I do when I have to. I'll bring it. Anything else? I assume you got the hookers........ Onaflag............ |

Thanks to SossMan for hosting the game last night. Extra special thanks to him for somehow getting the PokerStars RNG to shuffle and giving me several opportunities to go all-in on the turn against a strong second best hand.
Highlights of the tourney: a) I call a 3xBB raise with KT (I'm in the BB). The flop is QJ blank. I call a T400 (or so) raise. The ace hits the turn. I check. Villain bets, I re-raise all-in and he insta calls with AQ. b) I call a standard raise with Ax suited. Two of my suit hit the flop. I forget if it was checked around or if I called a bet. Another of the suit hits the turn. I check-raise all-in. Villain thinks for a while and finally calls. He had Kx suited. c) I get KK and do a standard 4x BB raise. A couple of callers. Flop is 889. It's checked to me and I bet T1000. One fold and Villain (second highest stack besides me) check-raises to T2000. I call. K hits the turn. Villain checks. (There may have been a check raise here, I don't remember.) I push. Villain insta-calls. He had 98 and had flopped a boat! From there, I used my big stack to bully my way to the final table of 10. Although there are a total of T57,500 chips at play, I have close to T20,000. My luck changes though. I try to bully the short stacks, but I lose a couple of races to get down to about T16,000. I tighten up a little. I finally get pocket 7s. The BB is about 600 at the time, so I bet T2000. I get re-raised all-in by two. I hit a 7 and knock out 2. I'm then able to bully again and get my way to the final 2 with about a 60 to 40% chip lead. It becomes a battle of blind stealing for a while. But I finally push on one hand which I completely forget. I remember that it went to the turn (again) and I turned a straight. I think Villain had 2 pair. We should do this more often. |

I'm then able to LIMP my way to the final 3 with about a 1" stack of chips. Ship it! [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, kudos to Sossman. It was a lot of fun. Onaflag........... |

I want to thank Andrew (Sossman) for being such a great host.
I had a great time (despite dropping $553 to donkeys and fish ) and want to thank everyone for turning out. Due to the numbers this time, I don't think we should have to wait another whole year for Battle of the Bay IV. Garland |

Thanks Andrew! You were a great host and it was great to meet some other 2p2ers.
The tourney sure had it's interesting moments. At more point, there was I think 3 quad hands dealt within maybe 3-4 orbits, one of them being Garland flopping quads nines against a PF all-in AQ. I busted fairly early in the tournament thanks to 2 hands. First hand I get K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] in CO. one EP limper and folded to me. I 4x BB raise. Blinds fold and EP limper (same person that busted against Garland's quad 9s I believe) calls. Flop comes K68 (or something like that). The king was a club as was one other card. Checked to me and I come out for slightly less than a pot size bet hoping to take it down right there. EP pushes for about 600 more (about 1/3 current pot). I call and he flips over the nicest draw ever.. he had about 6000 outs with his OESD and a flush draw. I was a dog already and his hand wasn't even made yet. Turn comes a club which completed his straight AND the flush (nice dagger). River gives him a 6 card flush just for good measure and I send it. A few orbits later Sossman pushes UTG/UTG+1 for "950" (which was really 1450 cuz he has great math skills). I look down to see A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and call. Soss flips over K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Flop comes all low clubs and I'm looking cherry. Of course the T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] turns and I can't hit my 10 outer. Home poker is RIGGED! Thanks to all for a great night of poker and we should definitely not wait a full year to do it again! |

Yup, I had a great time as well, despite being the victim of the horrible suckout described in gusmahler's post. A few more highlights:
1) In the 1-1-2 NL game, Dan raises PF and Andy calls. Flop comes Q7x. I don't recall the exact action on the flop, but I believe Andy bet, Dan raised, and Andy called. Another 7 comes on the turn and Andy says instantly "all in", and Dan, even more instantly calls. Andy's hand hits the muck even before Dan can show his QQ. 2) Still in the 1-1-2, Andy open pushes UTG for about $125. MP1 (sorry, never did find out who that was), and goes all in for about $200, and Dan goes all in for about $250. Andy shows AQ, MP1 shows JJ and Dan has KK. But Andy catches 1 Q on the flop, and a second one on the turn to scoop the biggest pot of the night. 3) 6-handed in early stages of the tournament (we started with 3 tables), I open raise w/ QT. BB calls. Flop is TTx. BB calls my continuation bet, and when K comes on the turn, he checkraises me. I just call. River is another T, and I double up against BB's AK. 4) Here's the nomination for worst played hand of the night. Cash game, I pick up Kh Kd in UTG+1. Dan on my right limps. I'm about to raise, but thought I detected that Garland on my left was going to raise and so I overlimped, planning to reraise. Garland promptly mucks (d'oh) and three more players come in for the ride (double d'oh). Flop is Ten-high all clubs, Dan bets $7, about 1/2 the pot I think. I hate monosuit boards, especially in NL and out of position, and right or wrong chose to just call and decide what to do when the turn came. The turn was a 4th club (d'oh), which got checked around. The river pairs the bottom pair, and it gets checked around again. I flip up my KK then slap my forehead when I realise that my hand is Kc Kh, not Kd Kh. Someone's eloquent "what the f-u-ck?!" perfectly captioned the moment. I agree with Garland's sentiment that this should be more often than an annual event. I'll look forward to attending the next one! |

I'll look forward to attending the next one! [/ QUOTE ] Had a great time, thanks everyone for coming. Thanks Jim for bringing the extra table. Some details to clean up: In the hand between me and dan. I raised opened for 6 w/ AK, he made it 16 on the button. Flop was 88x. I checkcalled 20. Turn Q. I checkraised all in over his 30 bet. He tanked for about the same amount of time it took my cards to hit the muck. REBUY!! The AQ hand. I was messing around saying that I'm just going to start pushing everything when the cards were being dealt. So I thought it would be funny for me to jam 140 bucks into the 1/1/2 blinds. Gergery calls pretty quickly and I am hoping my ace is live. Dan gets a little gleam in his eye and says very clearly "I CALL" and I'm hoping he has KK not AA. When the cards are turned, I'm delighted to have gotten myself in such an almost +ev situation: http://twodimes.net/h/?z=1589221 pokenum -h ac qc - jc jh - kh ks Holdem Hi: 1370754 enumerated boards cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV Ac Qc 370505 27.03 994540 72.55 5709 0.42 0.272 Jc Jh 234293 17.09 1130752 82.49 5709 0.42 0.172 Ks Kh 760247 55.46 604798 44.12 5709 0.42 0.556 So, in the long run, my jam only costs me about 8 bucks (less 27% of the $5 in blinds). I also like the fact that I tripled up the Pizza money. |
