Who do you guys think is best? Clark, Asimov, or Heinlein? I am going with Asimov but they're all very close.

Without Ray Bradbury, and others like him, there'd be no Twilight Zone. I think we need more of him on this list. Maybe some Frederick Forsyth too.

People keep ignoring the rules!

William Gibson has a book of short stories titled Burning Chrome. I think someone already listed one story from it (Johnny Mneumonic). I haven't finished the book, but recommend it.

Just saw this thread and didn't see any Stanislaw Lem. I'm bad at remembering titles, but I'll nominate the one where the hero keeps going back in time and knocking himself in the head. Also the one where the alien invaders land and are driven off by the bureaucratic paper work.

No novellas or novels...ONLY short stories.

Nightfall - Isaac Asimov

[/ QUOTE ]

Hmm, I only read the full version of Nightfall Asimov did in conjunction with Silverberg.

I'll pick Robert L. Forwards "Dragon's Egg", even if it's not a Novella. It's easily readable in a day though.

Heinlein was the only one who created interesting characters, in my opinion.

Clark and Asimov were clearly better writers in my opinion, but I just enjoyed Heinlein's work more.
