you'll continue to be extremely disappointed if you think the problem with the US national basketball team is the lack of quality players.

Once again, the USA lost because there was no chemistry from too many players who wanted to be stars. I dont know why thats so hard to grasp for so many of you. This time around they will have a better mix of stars and role players, and will own the competition.

Edit: since i helped mini hijack this thread, the answer is Carter

what they need is actual practice, not just getting together and playing when the time comes.

Jason Richardson is the best contest dunker, has the best contest dunk ever, and another couple in the top10

[/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. Can't believe anyone would think otherwise.

yea i agree with this too, he should be the only one to have won 3 of them (consecutive too), but overall I went with Carter, and the most mean and ferocious dunks goes to Amare.

In-game dunks? I'd think that one has to go to Shaq. Maybe Dawkins.

ok, let me throw in my 2 cents.... firstly, let me preface this by saying I absolutely despise Vince Carter... but he IS hands down, the best game dunker of all time.. he was rated there by Slam magazine who has the top 50 dunkers of alltime (Jordan, Nique, Dr. J and Michael Wislon who dunked on a 12 foot rim round out the top 5)... but take these as proof... 1) Vince over Freddy Weis 2) his Windmill alley in the rucker park summer league (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07ED-...;search=rucker) 3) his baseline jacknife reverse vs the Pacers his rookie year 4) his dunk on Zo this year that was called the greatest in game NBA dunk off all time (keep in mind Zo is 3rd on the all time shot blocking list).... Vince is #1 followed by MJ

for those of u talking about James White, let me tell u, he will be up there... I used to play pickup w/ James White, and he routinely did things that normal humans do not even think of... he would dunk 2 handed from the elbow off of fast breaks like it was nothing, 360 between the legs, u name it, he did it... he said he wants 2 dunk from the top of the key b4 he retires... that may be a stretch, but don't count him out... but as far as the best dunker 2 ever play in the league... it's hands down Vince @ this point

and an earlier poster mentioned J-Rich having the best dunk contest dunk ever... I assume he is alluding to the backwards b/w the legs, which was no doubt nice, but doesn't stand up to anything James White did, and as far as NBA contests go Iguodala off the back of the backboard, JR Smith behind the back, and MJ's kiss the rim are definitely better, not to mention the Darvin Ham's Jacknife reverse in the 97 dunk contest....

but if ur looking for the single greatest dunk in dunk contest history (non-NBA) look up Jameel Pugh....2 FEET from the free throw line..... he finished 2nd in the college contest 2 years ago b/c he missed a b/w the legs w/ 2 feet from like 12 feet... but if ur interested, look 4 it... that was #1 in my book

[/ QUOTE ]

pugh went to umass for a bit. was a really bad basketball player and i never got to see him do any sick dunks. apparently, carter admitted that the dunk he won the dunk contest with was made up by jameel pugh.
