I was expecting a lot more analysis- the set/set hand on the wheel board for one thing was crying out for a discussion.

What was there to discuss? In my opinion, that hand was totally standard for both players.

That's the place where the play-by-play should say "Doesn't Forrest know he's in real trouble when he's re-re-raised?"

Then Kaplan could explain things like how rare set over set is, if Forrest felt pot-committed, if he felt the doctor was a donkey...things like that. The AJ whatzhisname needs to make Kaplan shine.

Or talk about how certain turn cards could affect the action (3/6/A). I kept waiting for Kaplan to say something about the hand, but not much happened.

I think he keeps enough to cover the taxes he will owe.

Wouldn't he not owe any taxes if he gave it all to charity?

[/ QUOTE ]

You can only declare a maximum of 1/4 of your winnings as charity. This comes from Greenstein's mouth, I think from an interview on WPT season 2. Also, as to any speculation that Barry did get rich off of Symantec, this is not the case. He was playing poker for a living long before he joined Symantec, and only joined them so he didn't have to say he was a professional gambler when he and his girlfriend at the time(not sure if it's his current girlfriend) were trying to get custody of his child. Barry donates his tournament winnings to charity, and has to pay taxes on it, which implies that he has been making less than three times in the cash games that of which he makes in the tournaments. I have recently interviewed him, by phone, and most of these questions came up, so you can take it from me.

I was impressed because it was Jerry Buss, an amateur, who made that laydown. If I remeber correctly, Daniel had one of them on Jacks and overbet the pot specifically for that reason. Maybe Jerry Buss is better than I thought.

Dr. Nasseri should really learn the difference between having someone dominated and having them drawing dead.
