[ QUOTE ]
People that ride their bikes on the road when there is a big sidewalk available to them. [/ QUOTE ] wow, these threads are great at making it obvious who the bad posters are. |

[ QUOTE ]
People that ride their bikes on the road when there is a big sidewalk available to them. [/ QUOTE ] in most areas it's actually legally correct for a bicyclist to ride on the road. this is why busier cities have bicycle lanes as part of the road. the sidewalk is for exactly that. |

[/ QUOTE ] even without bicycle only lanes, bikes are still allowed to ride on the street so long as they obey traffic rules like any other vehicle. if somebody is riding "in the middle of the road" i think that's a problem be it bicycle, motorcycle, car, or any vehicle. your actual pet peeve then should be bicyclists that don't obey traffic rules or think they own the road. |

OK - as a bicyclist I'll counter with idiot drivers that
- make right turns without looking for bikes - have to enter traffic from a side street and block the bike lane while they're waiting - make left turns and only look for other cars coming against them - on roads with no bike lanes drive around bikes with 3-5 inches of space I ride about 16 miles each day and I'd guess that if I didn't keep an eye out for idiot drivers I'd get hit between 2-3 times each day. It gets a little frustrating... |

[ QUOTE ]
If you're doing 80+ in a 65, you're a bigger risk to other drivers than I am for making you go around me. Fly to Germany if you have to drive that fast. [/ QUOTE ] Wow, you just reminded me of my biggest pet peeve, people like you. In addition to being annoying you sometimes create dangerous situations as people passing on the right sometimes makes people misread the traffic picture. If you go to Germany you will see that when you get to 220 (km/h) the Porsche doing 210 doesn't need to move one lane to the right to let you pass, as he has already moved one lane to the right out of common courtesy, in case somebody going above 210 approaches from behind. That there are almost no drivers like you there, makes Germany such a pleasure to drive. |

I remember seeing big billboards along the autobahn with "Rechts ist recht" (Right is Right). And they all do it. Even those that go really, really fast. |
